Geology Engineering Practice Leader

About the role

Builds and maintains long-term relationships with clients in civil infrastructure and mining by providing technical expertise, attending client and project meetings, managing client expectations, and supporting business development pursuits.

Planner, budgets, and executes surface and subsurface field geologic and geotechnical exploration and manages support staff required to execute investigations.

Drives and supports project pursuits and contributes to business development efforts in California and around the western United States.

Manages strong team management, mentoring, staff scheduling, and resources to ensure on-time and on-budget project delivery.

Builds and drives collaborations with and between geotechnical and structural engineers to develop robust dam designs.

Experience preparing proposals, cost estimates, and schedules.

Performs and directs geologic field reconnaissance and mapping for the identification of geologic hazards and site characterization.

Provides support on the design and installation of ground water wells and geotechnical instrumentation (VWP’s, inclinometers, transducers, etc.).

Provides interpretation of site conditions including geologic, geochemical, and geophysical data.

Develops geologic models for complex geologic site conditions.

Reviews and understands regulatory guidelines and industry standards necessary to conduct technical studies and carry out project design and permitting work on dams.

Performs liaison activities with regulatory agencies (local, state, and federal agencies) on behalf of our client.

Provides strong written and verbal communications with clear and concise technical reports and documents deliveries along with quality in-person or remotely client and organizational presentations.

Mentors younger geologic staff to support their development and success.

Requirements

  • BSc in Geology Engineering Geology or Earth Science & 8 + years of relevant experience and or demonstrated equivalency of experience and or education.
  • California Professional Geologist (PG).
  • Valid US driver's License required.

Qualifications

  • Minimum Requirements: BSc in Geology Engineering Geology or Earth Science.
  • Preferred Qualifications: MSc in Geology, Engineering Geology, or Earth Science.
  • 2 years project management experience.
  • California Certified Engineering Geologist (CEG).

Offered rate of compensation will be based on individual education, qualifications, experience, and work location.

The range for this position is $100000 to $160000 - yearly.
