About the role
Hanson Professional Services Inc. is seeking a Geologist or Geological Engineer to be part of our Railway Market Unit in our St. Louis, MO office. This role involves desktop geological assessment/study, field data collection, coordination and supervision of drilling and laboratory test contractors, construction observations, and other duties as assigned.
Responsibilities
- Lead geotechnical explorations, including planning, field reconnaissance, coordination, and supervision of subcontractors.
- Supervise field testing and data collection while ensuring field safety and quality control.
- Develop geo-material design parameters, conduct modeling/analysis and design, and perform calculations.
- Perform complex geotechnical engineering calculations and utilize computer software for analysis and design.
- Collaborate with team members to complete projects efficiently.
- Prepare geotechnical reports, specifications, details, and construction plans.
- Assign duties and mentor entry-level staff.
- Provide quality control by reviewing technical concepts, calculations, and reports prepared by others.
- Other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in geology or geological engineering.
- 0-2 years of experience.
- GRIT/FE preferred or ability to obtain within 6 months.
- Ability to write clearly and concisely; computer skills required.
- Experience with gINT and other commercial programs to generate final logs is a plus.
- Willingness to accept out-of-town travel assignments and work overtime to meet project demands.
- This is a safety-sensitive position subject to random drug testing.
Skills
- Experience with gINT.
- Experience with MS Office Suite preferred.
- Experience with geotechnical design software packages such as GeoStudio.
- Experience with logging soil borings and preparation of field logs for soil borings.
Pay
The salary range for this position is $63,000 - $80,000, depending on relevant experience.
