About the Role
We are seeking an Environmental Specialist to support a wide variety of environmental projects. The ideal candidate will have field experience at Superfund and other contaminated sites, including running complex field programs, preparing planning documents, and writing reports for environmental characterization and remediation projects. Experience assessing and evaluating remedial approaches for contaminated soil, sediment, and groundwater is preferred. The role is well-suited for someone who performs well as a task leader or task manager and desires career advancement as either a project technical leader or project manager.
Responsibilities
- Manage tasks on large projects or phases of small projects.
- Perform surface and subsurface soil sampling, groundwater sampling, and other field data collection to support environmental and water supply projects.
- Work on a variety of assignments, including field studies, research investigations, construction oversight, data interpretation and evaluation, or report preparation.
- Perform engineering design for environmental projects, including preparation of drawings, specifications, calculations, and developing operation, maintenance, and monitoring plans.
- Provide remedial construction oversight and quality control.
- Review draft assessments and calculations for compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
- Learn project management techniques and the CDM Smith management system.
- Develop external client interaction and marketing skills.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree in Science or a related discipline (equivalent additional directly related experience may substitute for the degree).
- 5 years of related experience.
- Expert knowledge of computer-assisted design and drafting (CADD) 3D and 4D software and practices.
- Expert knowledge of scientific methods and processes.
- Expert knowledge of Microsoft business software (Excel, Word, etc.).
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Domestic and/or international travel may be required (20%–40%).
- An appropriate and valid driver’s license is required.
Pay
Pay Range: USD $86,507.00 – $142,730.00. This range is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels for the geographic location assigned to the position. Salary is determined by factors including role, function, relevant work experience, skills, required certifications, and education/training.
Additional compensation, such as bonuses, may apply at CDM Smith’s discretion but is not guaranteed for this position.
