About the role

You are future-focused, continuously branching out and finding innovative solutions to difficult problems. At Genworth, we will welcome your technical skills—and visionary thinking—as an IT Intern. Beginning Summer 2027, Genworth’s 10-to-12 week internship provides students with valuable experience needed for a successful beginning to any IT career. Our interns will work with top IT Leaders to solve real-world problems because our financial services and products touch real lives—whether we’re providing support for caregivers, enabling independent living, or connecting our customers with high quality care resources. At the end of the summer, successful interns who are rising seniors may interview and apply for a position in the full-time IT Development Program (ITDP).

This position is hybrid and located in Richmond, VA. Candidates may be eligible for relocation assistance if they are not located in the area.

Responsibilities

  • Working in a fast-paced, innovative, and change-oriented work environment
  • Assignments will be to teams in core IT processes in Application Development, Client/Server, Programming Languages, Web Development, System Integration, Data Science, and/or project management
  • Building a strong network of peers and mentors
  • Attending on-site technical and professional development classes
  • Presenting accomplishments to IT team and senior leadership
  • Participating in sponsored community service events

Requirements

  • Pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering (Computer, Systems, Electrical), Computer/Management Information Systems, or Math
  • Academic excellence
  • Strong analytical ability and communication skills
  • Proven leadership and interpersonal skills

Qualifications

  • Minimum grade point average of 3.2 on a 4.0 scale (nice to have)
  • Understanding of business concepts/strategy (nice to have)
  • Multiple programming language skills (nice to have)

Pay

Additional hiring rate: $23.00-$26.00/hour. This role is aligned to a national market-based pay range. Actual compensation will vary based on geographic location, experience, skills, and other job-related factors. In addition to base salary, this role is eligible to participate in a bonus incentive plan. Incentive compensation is based on individual and company performance and is not guaranteed.
