About the role

We are looking to hire a detail-oriented, driven, and resourceful Microgrid Mechanical Technician to assume responsibilities for multiple Microgrid generators. The successful candidate will have a proven track record of performing maintenance on power generation equipment, with electrical experience as a plus. The Microgrid Mechanical Technician will coordinate with Area Managers to ensure generators are maintained, serviced, and operate to meet customer requirements for on-demand electricity. The position is remote in the Corpus Christi area and will report to the Area Manager.

Responsibilities

  • Perform skilled repairs of Volvo Penta Diesel Engines (16 L), Power Solutions International (21.9 L) and Marathon generator ends, as well as various voltage control and synchronizing equipment.
  • Be proficient at learning and utilizing manufacturer-specific software to troubleshoot and diagnose engine and control system problems.
  • Facilitate technical support and liaison with equipment manufacturers.
  • Perform scheduled, preventive, or predictive generator maintenance tasks.
  • Perform troubleshooting and repair tasks.
  • Perform periodic inspections to identify maintenance needs.
  • Work in potentially confined areas of high heat and humidity, and cold.
  • Follow company processes and procedures for verbal/written communications.
  • Utilize all current technology for communication, documentation, and research.
  • Ensure safe operation of electrical equipment by enforcing company and industry standards.
  • Safely prepare, operate, and maintain motor vehicles for the purpose of conducting company business.
  • Additional responsibilities may be added at the direction of the company’s management.

Requirements

  • At least 3 years of mechanical and/or electrical experience.
  • Preferred college or equivalent training (e.g., military).
  • Operate company vehicles safely and efficiently to transport materials, equipment, or personnel to designated locations, adhering to all traffic laws and regulations.
  • Successfully pass Motor Vehicle Record (MVR) check to ensure compliance with company standards and safe driving practices.
  • Attention to detail: thorough when performing work and conscientious about attention to detail.
  • Computer skills: uses computers, software applications, databases, and automated systems to accomplish work.
  • Flexibility: rotating on-call schedule, including availability to work evenings, weekends, and/or holidays.
  • Must be able to be on your feet for multiple hours a day.
  • Must be able to climb a ladder and lift 50 lbs safely.
  • Integrity: work efficiently and effectively with or without supervision.

Preferred Skills

  • Volvo Penta Diesel Engine experience.
  • Diagnostic and troubleshooting skills.
