About the role
Responsible for repairing and maintaining power generation equipment, light towers, fuel tanks, transfer switches, distribution racks, and other types of equipment.
Responsibilities
- Determine the overall mechanical condition of generators and equipment, diagnose component malfunction, and initiate repair actions.
- Analyze malfunction through visual and auditory examination or using test equipment.
- Perform repairs including replacing engine heads, engine seals, accessory components, and making engine overhead adjustments.
- Replace major assemblies or sub-assemblies such as generator ends, radiators, fuel system components, and exhaust system items.
- Conduct operational inspections and ensure equipment is properly serviced before rental.
- Teach and lead level 1, 2, and 3 technicians in the fundamentals of generator operations and maintenance.
- Troubleshoot with customers over the phone as needed.
Requirements
- Advanced knowledge of internal combustion engines, electrical circuits, and mechanical mechanisms.
- Advanced skills in diagnosing and repairing generator and equipment malfunctions.
- Skilled in the use of technical manuals, wiring schematics, test equipment, and computer-based diagnostic programs.
- Knowledgeable in the use of hand and power tools, shop equipment, including forklifts, overhead lift cranes, welders, cutting, and grinding tools.
- Familiarity with proper procedures for handling and disposing of hazardous waste.
Skills
- Proficient in the use of Cummins based diagnostic programs.
- Strong troubleshooting and problem-solving abilities.
- Effective communication skills, particularly over the phone.
