Generator/Industrial Engine Technician

About the role

The Generator/Industrial Engine Technician is responsible for performing diagnostics, repairs, and preventive maintenance on power generation equipment in a controlled shop environment. This includes interpreting OEM service manuals, electrical schematics, and company procedures.

Responsibilities

• Perform inspections, maintenance, and repairs on generators, ATS, and related components
• Diagnose electrical and mechanical issues using appropriate tools and techniques
• Read and interpret service manuals, schematics, and wiring diagrams
• Complete service documentation and maintain accurate records
• Adhere to all safety standards and company policies
• Strong mechanical aptitude; electrical troubleshooting experience preferred
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Must own basic industrial tools (hand tools, torque wrenches, multimeters)
• Strong problem-solving and critical thinking skills
• Professionalism and attention to detail
• Able to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment

Requirements

• Minimum 2 years of experience in generator repair or related field
• Technical training or military equivalent preferred
• Pass pre-employment background check, physical exam, and drug screen
• Lift up to 50–80 lbs occasionally
• Ability to stand, bend, and perform repetitive tasks for extended periods

Qualifications

• High school diploma or GED required
• Technical training or military equivalent preferred

Skills

• Strong mechanical aptitude; electrical troubleshooting experience preferred
• Experience working efficiently in a fast-paced environment
