About the role
The Human Resources Generalist is the first point of contact for all Human Resources needs for designated staff. Under the direction of the Executive Director for Human Resources, the Generalist will conduct all Human Resources-related tasks.
Responsibilities
- Issues Intents to Employ and Contracts to employees.
- Processes all new hire information and documentation for onboarding according to pertinent state and federal requirements.
- Composes documents for communicating information to school and district personnel, the public, state officials, etc.
- Maintains and interprets various employment files, records, policies, and procedures to ensure accuracy of employee compensation, eligibility for position, and compliance with federal/state/district regulations.
- Responds to inquiries from staff and the public regarding employment positions and provides necessary direction.
- Collaborates with administrators in recruiting staff through advertising and attending recruiting events.
- Prepares information for the Governing Board as necessary.
- Creates and maintains files and reports for the Arizona State Department of Education.
- Verifies employment for current/previous staff.
- Maintains department and school staffing rosters for all classified positions.
- Maintains a roster of classified employee evaluations and provides reports for upcoming/missing evaluations.
- Processes fingerprint background checks for district employees through the AZ Department of Public Safety as necessary.
- Responsible for the ADE School District Employee Report (SDER).
- Acts as the first point of contact and responds to employee relations concerns.
- Briefs new and existing employees on benefit programs: health, dental, vision, life, disability, flex spending plans, and retirement.
- Completes and verifies paperwork, documentation, and records within respective timeframes and deadlines.
- Verifies all changes to coverage on monthly premiums for health and disability reports.
- Processes employee benefits selection through the system of record for accurate payroll deductions.
- Reconciles active and retired employees' benefit options within the Arizona State Retirement System.
- Processes all insurance billing, including reconciliation of files, submission of invoices for payment, and check deposits.
- Assists, processes, maintains accurate records, and communicates with employees regarding leave requests, including health-related disability leave, leave without pay, FMLA, etc.
- Processes Worker's Compensation claims, return to work orders, and OSHA reports.
- Acts as a liaison between employees and service providers to assist in problem resolution.
- Prepares and facilitates new hire onboarding and orientations.
- Organizes and assists with employee wellness programs, such as health fairs, monthly wellness events, and on-site benefit information meetings.
- Tracks and maintains accurate Wellness Incentive Program records and processes earned contributions for applicable employees.
- Maintains the benefits-related sections of the Staff Information Guide with the most current information.
- Responds to AEA, ASBA, and other survey requests regarding benefits and salaries.
- Organizes and facilitates Insurance Committee Meetings to establish district benefits for the following year.
- Prepares and presents information to employees and the Governing Board as necessary.
- Performs additional duties as assigned.
Requirements
- High School Diploma or GED and 3 years of job-related experience preferred.
- Excellent communication, public relations, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to maintain accurate records.
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of records and correspondence.
- Knowledge of Family Medical Leave Act (FMLA), Consolidated Omnibus Budget Reconciliation Act of 1985 (COBRA), Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA), Affordable Care Act (ACA), Workers' Compensation, Unemployment, and Arizona State Retirement System (ASRS).
- Ability to work on multiple assignments with consistent accurate work.
- Successful completion of the Professional in Human Capital Leader in Education Certification (preferred).
- Experience with I-Visions Enterprise software program (preferred).

Pay
A-II Salary Schedule - AA/AS Degree with 10-Years of Experience: $66,493/year.
Schedule
1.0 FTE, 12-Months; Full Time 40 hours/week; 251 District Support Work Calendar.
