Responsibilities
- Read work orders and/or follow oral instructions to ascertain materials or containers to be moved.
- Through the use of lift and clamp trucks, safely load and unload trailers, preparing goods for storage and/or shipment.
- Safely and efficiently move rolls, pallets, and other materials throughout the facility.
- Ensure correct loading of product or other material onto pallets before moving.
- Ensure all loads are correctly and properly strapped, braced, or padded to prevent shifting or damage during transport either in house or on customers’ transports.
- Provide support to press operation by correct set up of rolls.
- Maintain baler room support.
- Perform any and all other work as may be requested by management.
- Maintain and follow all company policies and procedures for OHSE, personal protection, and hazard materials/waste handling according to established guidelines.
- Ensure consistent use of appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE) while in designated areas and while performing specific tasks requiring PPE.
- Follow established procedures and guidelines for the handling and disposal of all hazardous materials/waste.
- Maintain and wear proper uniform according to company policies.
- Use company-provided safety lifting equipment, such as hoist, jacks, vacuum manipulators, etc.
- Regularly examine work areas to keep them safe and neat, including proper grounding, cleanup of ink and solvent containers.
- Properly store and arrange work area to maintain cleanliness and safe environment following all safety rules and regulations for grounding, storage, spill clean-up, etc.
- Demonstrate the ability to maintain work area in safe and proper working order, including cleaning press area, mopping floors, emptying rag bins, blade receptacles, and trash cans.
- Understand OHSE obligations, actively support the policy, and implement the guiding principles in everyday activities.
Requirements
- High School diploma (or GED).
- One to three years of related production experience and/or training, or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Very good mechanical and physical ability.
- Lift truck operators must have and maintain safety training for operation of all company equipment.
Physical Demands
- Ability to lift up to 75 lbs is required.
- May require prolonged periods of standing, stooping, bending, reaching, balancing, climbing, kneeling, crouching, and reaching with hands and arms.
- Must be able to hold, touch, feel, and manipulate products and equipment safely.
- Manual dexterity is required.
- Use of close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception, and ability to adjust focus.
- Must be able to rotate shifts as required.
- Available to work more than 8 hours per day and/or 40 hours per week when necessary to meet customer product needs.
