Salem Surgical Associates is seeking a general surgery physician to join their well-established independent practice in Salem, Virginia. Founded in April of 2000, Salem Surgical Associates has been serving the Roanoke Valley for over 25 years. This role offers the benefits of private practice such as professional autonomy and clinical independence. Physician-led practice. Operating Privileges at LewisGale Medical Center, an HCA Healthcare Facility (506‑bed acute care, Level II Trauma Center, Accredited Stroke and Chest Pain Center). Salem Surgical is located on the LewisGale Medical Center campus. Shared call with LewisGale Medical Center Gen Surg & Trauma Teams. 1:4 practice call, 1:6 ER call.
Responsibilities
Provide bread‑and‑butter general surgery care; perform procedures such as colonoscopies, sarcoma resections, breast surgery, pancreatic, hepatobiliary surgeries; robotic surgery welcome but not required.
Requirements
- Board Eligible or Board Certified in General Surgery
- Experience preferred; new graduates encouraged to apply

- Interest or experience in niche areas such as colonoscopy, sarcoma, breast, pancreatic, hepatobiliary surgery
- Familiarity with robotic surgery (optional)

Pay
Salary estimate: $450,000 – $515,000 per year. The typical candidate is hired below the midpoint of this range; actual salary may vary based on specific skills, years of experience, and internal comparisons.
Schedule
- Clinic hours: Monday & Friday 8:30 am‑3:00 pm; Tuesday‑Thursday 8:30 am‑4:00 pm
- 2‑3 clinic days per week
- 1‑2 OR days per week
