This role involves providing specialized medical coverage with responsibilities including performing laparoscopic surgeries such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernia repairs, as well as GI procedures like endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy. Key duties: managing an average of 5 patients per shift, with 2 admissions, and offering holiday coverage. Qualifications: required certifications in GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, laser procedures, and trauma surgery (adult only). Additional certifications needed include ATLS and ACLS; scopes are preferred but not mandatory. Skills: strong communication skills for call responses, proficiency in laparoscopic and trauma surgery, and the ability to manage a variable caseload.
