General Surgeon - Locums Help

This role involves providing emergency and surgical coverage with a focus on trauma and adult patients. Responsibilities include performing laparoscopic surgeries such as appendectomy, cholecystectomy, and hernia repairs, as well as GI procedures like endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, and colonoscopy. Key duties involve managing approximately 5 patients per shift, with 2 admissions, and offering holiday coverage. The position requires certifications in ATLS and ACLS, with GI endoscopy, sigmoidoscopy, colonoscopy, and laser certification preferred. While scopes are advantageous, they are not mandatory. The role offers paid malpractice insurance, pre-paid travel and housing expenses, and competitive compensation. Additional responsibilities include online documentation and maintaining 30-minute response times for call-only coverage. Ideal candidates possess strong surgical skills, trauma experience, and necessary certifications. 24-hour access to a dedicated consultant is provided to support the assignment.
