About the role

The General Superintendent, Logistics will manage project team members related to their craft, establish standards, and provide leadership training for the construction team and department. This position reports to the Field Operations Manager and is based in the USA Corp (Iowa) office. Travel up to 75% of the time is expected.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and coordinate logistics superintendents and their craft across multiple projects, ensuring effective coordination and execution of logistics plans.
  • Develop and implement processes and procedures to facilitate logistics coordination and material tracking across multiple projects, including tooling.
  • Provide coaching and development for logistics superintendents, enhancing their skills and capabilities.
  • Implement training programs for team members to ensure they are equipped with the necessary skills and knowledge.
  • Assist in developing detailed schedules for all logistic and offload activities.
  • Coordinate activities, schedule, material procurement, project logistics, and temporary facility plans with the project manager and field staff.
  • Review and approve materials/equipment for logistic activities, monitoring startup and progress, resolving conflicts prior to starting work.
  • Prepare reports and communicate progress to Project Managers/Directors as needed.
  • Review contract documents and make improvement suggestions as needed.
  • Collaborate with team members to ensure effective communication and results.
  • Provide cost estimation and identify/project costs related to time, materials, equipment, and labor.
  • Track actual costs and assess cost effectiveness of products, projects, or services.
  • Prepare reports regarding the current status of a project, including estimated costs, revenues, and project timeline.
  • Perform other duties and special projects as assigned by the Field Operations Manager or Management.
  • Ensure regular attendance in accordance with the company's attendance policy.

Requirements

  • 7+ years of experience in logistics operations.
  • Proven track record as a Superintendent on large projects.
  • Experience dealing with subcontracts and subcontractors.
  • Minimum of 2 years of solar PV experience.
  • Industrial relations knowledge for recognizing and resolving potential labor issues.
  • Knowledge of company construction guides and manuals.
  • Construction safety awareness and comprehension.
  • Conflict management skills.
  • Multi-tasking ability (prioritize, organize, schedule work).
  • Problem-solving skills (identify, analyze, research, evaluate, resolve).
  • Strong communication skills.
  • Constructability knowledge within discipline.
  • Conceptual planning ability.
  • Risk assessment/management.
  • Familiarity with cost code labor productivity systems, time reporting policies, and construction guides/standards.
  • Extensive work experience in management and completion of large-scale projects.
  • Appropriate leadership experience.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office tools.
  • Fluent in written and spoken English; other language skills are a plus.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Assertive, able to cope with pressure, and be a team player.

Physical Demands

  • Body Position: Frequently remains standing and moving up to 90% of an 8-10 hour workday. If operating equipment, be able to enter and exit equipment up to 90% of the time.
  • Move/Traverse: Frequently bend, stand, stoop, and/or walk.
  • Carry Weight: Frequently carry weight and/or lift objects (light to heavy) weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Hearing and Speech: Frequently communicate with the ability to hear and talk on a regular basis with employees, coworkers, and personnel; must exchange accurate information.
  • Sight: Frequent use of sight to detect images on computer, office documents, and office objects near and far.
  • Climb: Occasionally ascends/descends stairways to access office/equipment/trenches.
  • Travel: Up to 75% as needed.

Work Environment

  • Regular professional, construction site setting.
  • Noise level ranges from low to moderate (office trailer setting) or moderate to high (construction worksite).
  • Flexibility to work night shifts.

Pay

The salary range for this position in Irvine, CA, is compliant with the California Pay Transparency Act. Actual compensation is influenced by factors such as internal pay equity, skill set, education, licenses and certifications, geographic location, essential job duties, and necessary experience relative to the job’s minimum qualifications. An additional discretionary bonus structure or incentives may be offered as part of the overall compensation package, along with medical, dental, and/or other benefits, dependent on the level and position offered.
