About the role

We are seeking a Construction Manager/Superintendent to lead project construction activities and oversee total site management in the Life Sciences / Pharmaceuticals division. This key project leader for Clayco’s Field Operations team will manage projects ranging from 100MM to 500MM.

Responsibilities

  • Organize and direct all on-site construction related activities
  • Ensure construction operations comply with design, specifications, and are completed on schedule, within budget, and to quality standards
  • Manage construction subcontractors, professional staff, including field engineering, contract administration, cost and schedule, field procurement, finance and accounting services, and workforce services
  • Maintain detailed daily reports
  • Develop and execute project automation plan, environmental compliance plan, safety plan, site survey plan, non-manual staffing plan, subcontracting plan, labor strategy, construction execution plan, and job-site work rules
  • Implement Clayco’s safety program, security, housekeeping, and fire protection on the construction site and ensure strict adherence to Federal and State safety codes
  • Ensure the field organization is composed of qualified and knowledgeable personnel and effectively utilize personnel
  • Establish and implement construction schedules, methods, manning charts, material, and equipment requirements
  • Analyze performance for adherence to quality standards and schedules
  • Plan and establish procedures to ensure construction operations meet engineering designs and specifications
  • Ensure Clayco’s policies and procedures are fully implemented
  • Establish project field procedures to be worked in conjunction with Clayco’s standards, as necessitated by project conditions
  • Collaborate with the jobsite team to ensure labor harmony throughout the project
  • Partner with the project management team to maintain effective client relationships and be the primary contact for client's communication with the field activities
  • Maintain effective relationships with other functional departments
  • Develop, implement, and administer a job-site security plan and coordinate the activities with Clayco’s security department
  • Participate in contracts and subcontracts negotiations
  • Develop and implement a training program to ensure subordinate personnel receive progressive training to enable them to assume additional responsibilities and be responsible for overall development of construction training and any testing as required
  • Work with Clayco’s safety team in the development of the project safety program and ensure strict adherence to Company, federal, state, and local safety regulations
  • Ensure the implementation of an effective community relations plan for the site
  • Ensure required permits and licenses are in place prior to the start of the affected work at site
  • Ensure development and execution of strategies and plans for project automation, environmental compliance, safety, site surveying, non-manual staffing, contracting, labor strategy, construction execution, and job-site work rules
  • Coordinate with the Field Operations Manager for all assignment of Superintendent and Foreman positions
  • Support Superintendent(s) throughout the duration of the job
  • Document project field issues that impact budget, quality, or schedule and provide to the project management team
  • Ensure subcontractor requests for field issues that impact budget, quality, or schedule are documented and are forwarded to the project management team
  • Follow guidelines of the Project Quality Assurance/Quality Control (QA/QC) program written for the job site

Requirements

  • Bachelor's or Master's Degree in Civil Engineering, Construction Management, related technical degree or relevant work experience in lieu of education
  • 20-25 years of relevant experience, with progressive responsibility and technical knowledge both scope and value of project
  • Technical knowledge and experience of relevant construction methods and systems including: Utility relocates and slope stability works, Full understanding of multiple mission critical platforms, Full understanding and working knowledge of high voltage, medium voltage, and low voltage systems, General understanding of BMS and EPMS Systems, Full understanding and coordination of Utility relocations, underground medium voltage systems, and BIM modeling coordination of ALL utilities both above and below ground, Full understanding and managing of all LOTO procedure's and FOD inspections for all systems, Ability to research and understand local codes and jurisdictional requirements for the project, Knowledge of project-specific environmental compliance requirements, Experience with successful interface management on Data Center/Mission Critical projects
  • OSHA 30 required
  • Ability to walk the job site, climb ladders, and multi floor scaffolding
  • Ability to lift objects at least 50lbs
