General Superintendent, Facilities

Managerial position within the Facilities Division, overseeing maintenance and repair of assets across New York City Transit stations and facilities.

Responsibilities

• Direct the maintenance and repair of all assets managed by facilities teams within the Division of Facilities.
• Manage various building trades in maintenance, repair, and rehabilitation operations to ensure the physical integrity of MTA NYCT stations and facilities.
• Oversee production goals, safety, uninterrupted right-of-way operations, and emergency response at all times.

Requirements

• Bachelor’s degree in Engineering, Architecture, Operations Management, or a related field (or equivalent).
• Eight (8) years of full-time related experience, including at least five (5) years in a managerial or supervisory role.
• Strong knowledge of MTA NYCT rules and regulations.
• Knowledge of construction trade, project management, and maintenance management techniques.
• Proficiency in the use of EAM (Enterprise Asset Management) systems.
• Understanding of construction processes and methodologies.
• Ability to read and interpret construction drawings and specifications.

Skills

• Strong supervisory and leadership skills with the ability to direct, mentor, and evaluate subordinate supervisors and staff.
• Effective decision-making, organizational, and problem-solving skills, particularly in high-pressure or emergency situations.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills, including preparing reports, analyzing records, and providing clear guidance on training, discipline, and performance expectations.

Pay

$167,186 (Grade B). Final salary is determined by experience, skillset, and alignment with compensation practices.

• Appointment may be at a comparable level to the current level of the selected candidate.
• Selected candidates will undergo a full background investigation, including employment and education verification. Discrepancies may lead to dismissal.
• Employees earning more than $101,379 annually or holding policy-making positions may be required to file an annual financial disclosure statement with the state of New York.
• For 55-a eligible titles: Candidates may be placed in a competitive or non-competitive class position based on qualifications. Indicate interest in the 55-a Program in your cover letter and resume.
• TA applicants must be in a permanent civil service status in the title(s). If on an established list, your list number must be reachable for consideration.
• Current MTA employees must complete at least one year of service in their current role and maintain a satisfactory record of job performance, attendance, and disciplinary conduct to be eligible for consideration.
