General Superintendent

About the role

STRUCTURAL is recruiting for a General Superintendent to support its new STRUCTURAL Dallas, TX team. The role involves providing high-level field management to other Superintendents, Foremen, and open shop crews involved in concrete repair, masonry restoration, waterproofing, and structural strengthening in commercial and industrial settings.

Responsibilities

  • Working closely with Project Managers, Division Managers, and other leaders within STRUCTURAL
  • Participating in pre-project and pre-task planning activities and disseminating planning details to field teams
  • Motivating team members to work together to accomplish tasks, coordinate work activities with other construction project activities, and assign work to employees based on material and worker requirements of specific jobs
  • Ensuring crews are operating all tools and equipment in a safe, proper, and productive manner
  • Providing training and assistance to field managers and crews in the performance of work-related tasks
  • Aiding Project Managers in evaluating various production rates related to the project
  • Completing all essential paperwork in a clear and accurate manner
  • Interviewing and hiring of new field employees
  • Providing leadership to the Company's Safety 24/7 culture

Requirements

  • A high school degree or equivalent
  • At least 12 years of experience in general construction, with at least 5 of those years in a field management role at a Foreman or Assistant Superintendent level or above
  • Prior experience in general repair-type projects, including concrete repair, structural strengthening, waterproofing, corrosion control, façade restoration, and previous experience managing 3-8 projects simultaneously (depending on size/complexity)
  • Proven ability to manage various levels of field managers and oversee divisional field operations
  • Proven ability to read, interpret, and execute to construction drawings and contract specifications, resolving discrepancies as needed
  • Established dedication to safety and ability to display commitment to STRUCTURAL's operating principles
  • Proven experience producing look-ahead schedules and working with other construction documents as required by the project and leadership
  • Proven experience communicating effectively with customers, crews, and project teams
  • Intermediate computer skills and construction math skills

Qualifications

  • High school degree or equivalent
  • Bachelor's degree in Construction Management or related field preferred
  • 12+ years of experience in general construction with at least 5 of those years in a field management role at a Foreman or Assistant Superintendent level or above
  • Prior experience in general repair-type projects, including concrete repair, structural strengthening, waterproofing, corrosion control, façade restoration, and previous experience managing 3-8 projects simultaneously (depending on size/complexity)
  • Proven ability to manage various levels of field managers and oversee divisional field operations
  • Proven ability to read, interpret, and execute to construction drawings and contract specifications, resolving discrepancies as needed
