Position Summary
The General Superintendent (GS) is the field operations manager and typically reports to the Director of Field Operations. The GS is responsible for all supervision and talent development within the area of field operations.
What You'll Do
- Understand the upcoming needs within the company for manpower and properly anticipate those needs
- Manpower: Responsible to man shutdowns and weekend work with proper, knowledgeable people
- Maintain communication with the superintendents about wage rates and determine the right mixture of employees to best serve the project
- Hire the necessary talent to complete the current workload
- Discipline employees as necessary to promote the values, principles, and character of Polk Mechanical
- Work with 3rd party vendors to help with staffing peaks
- Train or provide 3rd party training for all field personnel as necessary
- Interface and support the efforts of our safety department
- Visibility: Should visit with every assigned supervisor onsite bi-monthly. Responsible to walk the project with supervisor to discuss manpower, safety, production, and provide instruction on better ways to accomplish tasks
- Training: Responsible to train supervisors and promote career path within Polk. Responsible to understand the latest trends in technology and champion their adoption
- Quality Control: Responsible to inspect and ensure correct installation. Responsible to monitor the QC program during project visits
