General Superintendent

About the role

Responsible for planning, scheduling, employee oversight, and management of Underground Crews performing installation, maintenance, and inspection projects. Assists the Project Manager in coordinating activities of employees engaged in the construction process, utilizing knowledge of equipment, techniques, procedures, and specifications. Supports craft supervision in coordinating activities of workers.

Responsibilities

• Read and interpret project drawings.
• Apply OSHA safety requirements relevant to the discipline.
• Supervise the daily work of employees.
• Support estimating effort through bid reviews and constructability reviews, including activity productions, crew makeup, equipment selection, and cost analysis.
• Forecast, generate, and manage project schedules; provide look‑ahead schedules to ensure appropriate manpower, materials, equipment, subcontractors, and resources.
• Ensure all team members follow company safety and work rules and policies.
• Participate in review of job costs and overall performance with a focus on production.
• Plan on‑the‑job training for team members to ensure safety and quality.
• Conduct timely site reviews for safety and quality.
• Work closely with clients to create new opportunities for Loenbro.
• Perform all other duties as assigned by the Supervisor.
• Understand trench shoring and shoring methods.
• Travel as required.

Minimum Qualifications

• Minimum of 5 years of Superintendent experience in construction of industrial projects.
• Experience managing projects and leading crews of 12 or more personnel.
• Understanding of industry‑standard scheduling software and Microsoft Office Suite.
• Valid driver’s license with a clean driving record.
• Completion of OSHA 30‑hour or equivalent safety training.
• Trench safety training.
• Background in underground installation of piping, trench and excavating, and underground boring.

Physical Demands and Work Environment

• Work in external environments with potential exposure to extreme cold or hot temperatures.
• Operate in manufacturing and industrial settings.
• Fit and move in confined spaces, including tanks and vessels.
• Exposure to noise above 85 dB and intense odors.
• Limited visibility areas.
• Climb stairs, ladders, and elevated platforms (scaffolding at significant heights).
• Lift equipment and materials weighing 1–50 pounds.
• Driving required; valid driver’s license and proof of insurability; subject to DMV background check.
• Compliance with all applicable safety regulations, PPE requirements, and Loenbro’s Environmental Health and Safety (EH&S) policies.
