About the Role

The General Superintendent is the overall manager on a large and/or complex project. They ensure all contracted work is developed, implemented, installed, and managed in accordance with the Company’s requirements, including safety, quality, management, and financial performance. The role involves efficient oversight of staffing, materials management, financial management, customer care, and delivery goals.

Responsibilities

  • Recruit, hire, train, manage, supervise, promote, discipline, and discharge project-related staff as necessary.
  • Manage all human resource issues per Company policies and procedures.
  • Complete recommendations for project-related employees’ performance ratings, promotions, and pay changes.
  • Provide guidance and mentoring to meet customer and Company goals and objectives.
  • Act as the senior Company liaison for operational interface with customer representatives.
  • Plan, manage, monitor, and maintain project profitability to achieve Company goals.
  • Ensure deadlines are met per customer requirements.
  • Manage workload distribution, staffing levels, and monitor customer delivery and job installation progress.
  • Oversee successful job completion, ensuring productivity, compliance with project budget, and quality standards.
  • Review job cost postings for accuracy and completeness, including invoice preparation, customer collections, and financial reporting.
  • Complete all IES and project paperwork accurately and on time (e.g., timesheets, material transfers, work orders, change orders, tool transfers).
  • Ensure all Job Closing Packages meet customer and Company standards.
  • Perform quality checks, manage outage prevention, conduct daily job walks, and prepare red-lined as-built drawings.
  • Serve as the main on-site customer contact for questions or concerns; attend facility and construction meetings as required.
  • Demonstrate technical knowledge, troubleshoot and resolve technical issues.
  • Review and monitor operational processes (e.g., estimating, purchasing, invoicing, warehousing, scheduling, reporting) for accuracy and efficiency.
  • Develop, redesign, and implement process improvements to enhance operational effectiveness.
  • Monitor quality and safety issues in collaboration with the Training Department; promote safety as the first priority.
  • Lead assigned operations meetings and training sessions.
  • Manage tools and truck inventory/maintenance.
  • Complete other responsibilities as assigned.

Requirements

  • Proven problem-solving and critical thinking skills; ability to read, write, and deliver oral presentations effectively.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to develop branch and job processes and best practices.
  • High skill level in interpreting blueprints and project documents (e.g., specifications, reporting, quality requirements).
  • Ability to travel within the branch or regional territory as needed.
  • Ability to learn and teach Company and customer project management systems.
  • Physical ability to work at heights, off ladders, and in confined spaces; lift up to 50 pounds and move up to 75 pounds.
  • Ability to stand and walk large job sites regularly.
  • Ability to see and distinguish colors, read small print, and hear/recognize audible signals (e.g., dial tones).

Qualifications

  • Minimum of five (5) years of supervisory or managerial experience preferred.
  • Minimum of three (3) years of experience as a Lead Communications Technician or similar position.
  • Minimum of five (5) years of experience in telecommunications or a related technical/construction field.
  • Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, MS Project).
  • Must meet Company minimum driving standards.
  • Demonstrated ability to define a project, create a scope of work, develop estimates, manage tasks to completion, and ensure customer turnover.
  • Ability to use trade tools: punch tool with 110 block and 66 block blade, 6/8 position combo crimp tool, Krone/3M/BIX, butt set, volt-ohmmeter, 4-pair continuity tester, and 5-gang punch tool.

Pay

Minimum USD $44.00/Hr. Maximum USD $50.00/Hr.
