Actalent is seeking a Lead Superintendent to oversee all field operations for a large, technically complex Intel semiconductor and advanced technology construction project in Santa Clara, CA.

About the role

This position drives schedule performance, safety, quality, subcontractor coordination, and overall project execution from site mobilization through project closeout. You will lead construction activities on one of the region’s most prominent and sophisticated industrial and mission-critical facilities, working closely with project management, engineering, and design stakeholders to deliver high-performance environments such as fabrication facilities, cleanrooms, data centers, and advanced manufacturing spaces.

Responsibilities

  • Lead all day-to-day field operations from initial site mobilization through project closeout, ensuring smooth and efficient execution of all construction activities.
  • Develop, maintain, and manage detailed short-term and long-term project schedules, sequencing work to meet critical milestones and overall project deadlines.
  • Coordinate and direct subcontractors, suppliers, and self-perform teams, aligning trade activities and logistics to maintain productivity and minimize conflicts.
  • Ensure strict adherence to project safety requirements and company safety standards, promoting a safety-first mindset across the jobsite and all field teams.
  • Maintain robust quality control processes, proactively identify potential issues, and drive timely resolution to uphold project specifications and performance standards.
  • Conduct regular subcontractor coordination meetings and daily planning sessions to review progress, clarify priorities, and align resources with schedule demands.
  • Partner closely with Project Managers, Engineers, Owners, and Design Teams to communicate field conditions, resolve design and constructability challenges, and support informed decision-making.
  • Monitor labor productivity, staffing levels, and trade performance, adjusting manpower plans as needed to maintain project milestones and budget objectives.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate project risks that could impact schedule, cost, quality, or safety, implementing corrective actions and contingency plans as required.
  • Drive accountability, collaboration, and clear communication across all trades and stakeholders, fostering a culture of ownership and high performance on site.
  • Maintain accurate project documentation, daily reports, logs, and field records, ensuring timely and transparent reporting on progress, issues, and resolutions.
  • Support logistics planning for materials, equipment, and site access to optimize workflow, reduce downtime, and maintain orderly and efficient jobsite operations.
  • Mentor and guide field staff and crews, providing leadership, coaching, and support to develop capabilities and promote strong team performance throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements

  • At least 10 years of construction experience with progressive field leadership responsibilities on complex projects.
  • Minimum of 5 years serving as a Superintendent or Lead Superintendent on large-scale construction projects.
  • Proven track record managing projects with construction values of $50 million or greater.
  • Strong foundation in commercial, industrial, mission-critical, semiconductor, manufacturing, data center, or other highly technical facilities.
  • Deep understanding of construction scheduling, sequencing, logistics, and subcontractor management in fast-paced environments.
  • Demonstrated leadership experience managing large field teams throughout the full project lifecycle.
  • Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute complex work scopes while maintaining safety, quality, and schedule commitments.
  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to interact effectively with owners, design teams, engineers, project managers, subcontractors, and field staff.
  • Strong problem-solving skills with the ability to anticipate issues, develop solutions, and implement corrective actions in the field.
  • Client-focused approach with proven stakeholder management capabilities and a commitment to delivering high-quality outcomes.
  • Safety-first mindset and thorough knowledge of jobsite safety practices and requirements.
  • OSHA 30 certification preferred.

Qualifications

  • Experience delivering semiconductor fabrication facilities, cleanrooms, and advanced manufacturing environments.
  • Experience in data centers, mission-critical facilities, and advanced technology campuses.
  • Experience in industrial construction and large commercial projects, particularly those with complex MEP and technical systems.
  • Proven leadership presence in the field, with strong tenure and clear career progression in previous roles.
  • Ability to lead and motivate large teams in fast-paced, high-demand construction environments.
  • Strong planning, coordination, and execution skills with attention to detail and a focus on continuous improvement.
  • Ability to build collaborative relationships with trade partners and internal teams to drive project performance.
  • Familiarity with construction management practices and tools used on large-scale, technically complex projects.
  • Title experience such as Superintendent, Sr Superintendent, or Lead Superintendent on comparable projects.

Work Environment

This role is based on a major Intel semiconductor and advanced technology construction project in Santa Clara, CA, operating primarily in a large, active jobsite environment. The project involves complex industrial and mission-critical facilities, including fabrication spaces, cleanrooms, manufacturing areas, data centers, and advanced technology campuses. The Lead Superintendent works on site, overseeing field teams, subcontractors, and suppliers in a fast-paced, schedule-driven environment that emphasizes safety, quality, and coordination.

The workday is typically full-time with on-site presence required to manage daily operations, attend coordination meetings, and respond to evolving field conditions. The environment demands close collaboration with project management, engineering, and design professionals, as well as regular interaction with trade partners. Jobsite attire is expected to be professional field wear appropriate for construction, including required personal protective equipment such as hard hat, safety footwear, and other safety gear in accordance with company and project standards.

Schedule

This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Santa Clara, CA. The role requires full-time on-site presence.

Pay

The pay range for this position is $50.00 - $70.00/hr. Individual compensation offered for this position within this range will depend on many factors, including qualifications, skills, relevant experience, job knowledge, geographic location, internal equity, and other pertinent job-related factors.
