General Superintendent

About the role

The General Superintendent oversees all Foreman/Lead Persons, ensuring they are properly trained and capable of managing their crews. They also handle job scheduling, site visits, and disciplinary actions. Additionally, they are responsible for maintaining compliance with company policies and procedures.

Responsibilities

• Oversee Foreman/Lead Persons and ensure they are properly trained and able to manage their crew.
• Responsible for job scheduling and crew placement.
• Attend pre-construction meetings as needed.
• Visit job sites and ensure Foreman/Lead Persons are meeting all job requirements, including following plans and specs, ensuring quality control, adhering to safety policies, recording job time, etc.
• Manage Foreman/Lead Person disciplinary actions and support them in disciplining other field employees.
• Be familiar with and oversee adherence to the Company Handbook, Fleet Policy, and Safety Policy.
• Support Foreman/Lead Persons in their job responsibilities by being proficient in their requirements.
• Ensure weekly Toolbox talks are conducted and gather sign-in sheets for submission to corporate.
• Review daily timesheets, production reports, pre-trip inspections, and driver behavior, addressing issues as necessary.
• Available to go to job sites (even after hours) for safety incidents, taking someone to get tested, treated, documenting the incident, and collecting information.
• Available to bring materials, supplies, equipment, and transport as needed, including having a tow package, lights, etc.
• Meet with inspectors, Professional Engineers, owners, prime contractors, vendors, verify quantities, quality, meet specifications, etc., as required.
• Follow all company policies, procedures, and protocols.
• Ensure all employees under supervision are aware of and follow company policies, procedures, and protocols, holding employees accountable as necessary.
• Train employees in accordance with the Passport Program.
• Aid in the collection of project revenue receivables.
• Absent from final project inspections and secure and send final project documentation to internal and external stakeholders.
• Identify potential project risks and develop proactive risk mitigation plans, addressing issues promptly to keep projects on track.
• Allocate resources, including personnel, equipment, and materials, to maximize project productivity and deliver projects within budget.
• Develop project staffing plans and establish a project completion schedule.
• Assist with other duties as assigned.

• Knowledge of First Aid, CPR, AED, and Flagger certification.
• Knowledge of Traffic Control Technician certification.
• Knowledge of Forklift certification.
• Current CDL license.
• Completion of HIPPA and Ethics training.

Qualifications

• High school diploma or equivalent.
• At least 5 years of work experience with the company.
• Eligible for company-sanctioned driving based on fleet policy driver eligibility requirements.
• Satisfactory motor vehicle report (MVR).
• Satisfactory background check.
• Availability for on-call needs.
• Physical ability to respond to emergency situations.
