Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership, coordination, technical expertise and labor management for all project site work activities and supervision of on-site work teams.
  • Work closely with project managers and work teams to meet labor requirements and ensure successful execution of project work, in alignment with all Company policies, procedures, key objectives, regulations and applicable union bargaining agreements.
  • Study specifications and drawings and collaborate with project managers and others to review, estimate, and schedule workforce requirements by project and local jurisdiction.
  • Work with field operations team to select foremen for specific projects.
  • Develop and implement site utilization plans and establish crew sizes.
  • Oversee the project's overall progress.
  • Interface with other departments to ensure the coordination and scheduling of labor, and the delivery of equipment and materials to support project schedules.
  • Create, review and update project schedules and three-week look ahead scheduling.
  • Coordinate effective pre-construction planning sessions, project startup meetings and project site meetings.
  • Coordinate and communicate resources on all aspects of project work with management, crew, foremen and project management teams.
  • Assist the field on technical, installation and code-related questions.
  • Conduct regular project reviews and maintain records of project progress.
  • Collaborate with project managers to review labor projections by project and local jurisdiction, control project costs and maintain overall profitability for projects.
  • Ensure crews have required work direction, resources, and support.
  • Research and recommend the most efficient means, methods, and techniques in performing work.
  • Oversee daily construction activities and execution of the project life cycle at work sites.
  • Inspect work in progress to ensure that work conforms to specifications and to construction schedules.
  • Manage site work and logistics efficiently, using LEAN methodology and continuous improvement approach to all efforts.
  • Coordinate plans and specifications with engineers, identifying and clarifying discrepancies.
  • Confer with management and engineering staff and/or inspectors and suppliers of tools and materials to resolve problems and improve construction methods.
  • Work with subcontractors to complete projects within budgets and projected timeframes.
  • Collaborate with the safety team to identify and correct unsafe working conditions.
  • Educate and implement proactive safety measures per Company requirements and OSHA standards.
  • Ensure employees follow all appropriate safety procedures and that safety audits are completed as required.
  • Provide regular and high-quality hiring, communications, mentoring, coaching, problem-solving and training to staff and other co-workers at all levels as needed.
  • Advise and coach employees and provide performance feedback regularly.
  • Stay informed of new and changing Company procedures, policies, materials, technologies, techniques, and practices.
  • Establish, train, and maintain policies and processes.
  • Create and maintain positive relationships and open communications with senior management, project teams, customers, sub-contractors, architects, vendors, other trades, union representatives, office, and field staff.
  • Address personnel issues as they arise and involve the necessary resources to resolve problems.
  • Consistently make decisions in an attentive and safe manner to ensure the safety and health of self and others.
  • Utilize LEAN concepts or other continuous improvement methodologies to ensure the most efficient operations, processes, and activities.
  • Promote and model the Company mission, vision and values through exercising sound and ethical business practices, championing all elements of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and providing high quality services and programs as they relate to clients, subcontractors, co-workers, suppliers, and the public.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent work experience in engineering, construction management, building construction or a related field.
  • Valid state electrical license preferred.
  • Minimum 10+ years of electrical construction experience with concentration in large, complex commercial construction projects.
  • Experience directly managing people preferred.
  • Experience and knowledge of construction and general industry safety standards, including OSHA, MSHA, DOT, and NFPA 70E.
  • Knowledge of building construction, materials, systems, market conditions and trade practices.
  • Extensive knowledge of the electrical code and skills to read, interpret and understand electrical contracts, plans, drawings, blueprints, and specifications.
  • Strong experience and understanding of project management tools and practices.
  • Thorough understanding of the project life cycle.
  • Extensive training and experience with LEAN methodologies and applications. LEAN certification preferred.
  • Strong process orientation.
  • Conceptual ability to work with little information and quickly understand the owner/architect requirements.
  • Demonstrated strong business analytical and mathematical skills.
  • Strong financial acumen, critical thinking skills and detail orientation.
  • Demonstrated prominent level of integrity and dependability.
  • Strong professional leadership, organizational management, labor projection and workforce hiring skills.
  • Demonstrated strong business development and client communication skills.

  • Ability to work with and facilitate diverse work teams.
  • Excellent listening, presentation, negotiation, conflict management and persuasion skills, and the ability to influence potential customers and employees at all levels, including senior management.

Travel

Travel to project sites is required, which may include temporary relocation for the duration of the project.
