Responsibilities
- Perform quality ultrasound procedures using proper positioning skills and technical factors for patients from infants to geriatrics
- Conduct clinical assessments and diagnostic sonography examinations
- Educate patients about exams and obtain consent when necessary
- Practice safety in accordance with established standards
- Utilize critical thinking for daily and emergent assessment of protocols
- Assess patient preparation and scanning protocols for each ordered exam
- Follow established Ultrasound Department protocols
- Observe safety precautions while handling patients and during examinations
- Operate 2D, M-mode, and Doppler ultrasound units with appropriate transducers to record images and perform accurate measurements
Requirements
- Registered with the American Registry of Diagnostic Medical Sonographers (ARDMS) as one of the following:
- Registered Diagnostic Medical Sonographer (RDMS)
- Registered Diagnostic Cardiac Sonographer (RDCS)
- Registered Vascular Technologist (RVT)
- Registered Musculoskeletal Sonographer (RMSKS)
- If not registered, must be board-eligible and become registered with ARDMS within one year of hire
- Maintain active registry status with ARDMS (30 CMEs every 3 years/annual payment)
- Child and Dependent Adult Abuse Mandatory Reporter Training required within six months of hire and every three years thereafter
- Basic Life Support (BLS) certification required within 30 days of hire and every two years thereafter
