KEY FUNCTIONS, ESSENTIAL DUTIES, AND RESPONSIBILITIES

  • Completes, or otherwise assists with, carpet and tile projects, which include, without limitation, the installation, removal, and proper disposition of old materials.
  • Repairs, or installs, ceiling tile work.
  • Performs repairs on folding partitions, accessory cabinets, and related accessories and fixtures.
  • Repairs, replaces, or installs toilet room accessories to include, without limitation, toilet partitions.
  • Installs and repairs training aids.
  • Replaces broken glass, and performs adjustments of glass doors and frames, accordingly.
  • Performs masonry repair to include, without limitation, patching, as well as plugging gaps and cracks in the mortar.
  • Transports materials, equipment, and related items, to complete assigned jobs and projects.
  • Installs fire extinguishers.
  • Completes repairs on furniture, doors, store fronts, and small glass projects.
  • Pours and finishes concrete.
  • Uses the Department's Computerized Maintenance Management System (CMMS) to enter, look up, and maintain information relating to assigned jobs and projects.
  • Operates various equipment to perform installation and repair related work.
  • Performs assigned routine inspection duties of work completed to ensure adherence to specifications and related requirements.
  • Cleans worksites to include, without limitation, hauling debris and trash for proper disposal, as well as cleaning and storing tools and equipment upon completion of assigned tasks.

  • Performs all assigned work activities in accordance with standard procedures and protocols established by the department and District, and in accordance with applicable standards, procedures, protocols, practices, codes, and requirements as set forth by regulations and governing entities including, without limitation, Texas Education Agency.
  • Demonstrates and maintains relevant and up-to-date working knowledge and understanding of requirements and standards relevant to the job function.
  • Maintains awareness of and promptly reports any known or suspected compliance issues to appropriate personnel.
  • Assists with audits and the preparation for audits, whether initiated internally or externally, as assigned.
  • Adheres to all other District wide policies and procedures including, but not limited to, human resources, safety, and emergency protocols.

Purpose

  • Demonstrates support towards the District's Shared Vision, Mission, and Promise 2.
  • Assists department leadership in the compilation of miscellaneous confidential reports.
  • Attends departmental and organizational meetings, as required.
  • Participates in continuing education programs and related activities to maintain proficient understanding and working knowledge relevant to the job function and trade.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions

  • Frequent walking and standing for long periods of time.
  • Frequent use of hands to handle, control, or feel objects, tools, and controls.
  • Frequent bending or twisting of the body.
  • Repetition of the same movements.
  • Use of one or two hands and fingers to grasp, grip, move, or assemble objects, including very small objects.
  • Visual inspection of details of objects that are less than a few feet away.
  • Judging of distance between objects.
  • Making quick and precise adjustments to machine controls.
  • Pushing, pulling, carrying, and lifting of objects up to 75 lbs.
  • Frequent bending, kneeling, crawling, stretching, twisting, and reaching.
  • Frequent use of various tools including, without limitation, screwdriver set, pliers, wire strippers, adjustable wrench, and socket set.
  • Regularly works within an indoor climate controlled setting, as well as an outdoor non-climate controlled setting with occasional to frequent exposure to extreme temperatures, inclement weather conditions, dust, fumes, and odors, and occasional to frequent exposure to mechanical, electrical hazards, hazardous chemical agents, bright lights, dust, fuel, smoke, fumes, dirt, grease, and related chemicals and hazards, as well as moving objects and vehicles, and loud audible noise.
  • Requires the frequent use of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE).
  • Requires occasional to frequent operating of a motor vehicle on public roadways commuting to various facilities within the District.
