About the Role
The General Production Team Members support Smart Chicken poultry processing operations by performing a variety of production and labor functions. Team members will be placed in the position they chose at hiring and may rotate across multiple areas based on operational needs, staffing requirements, and business demand. This role requires a strong commitment to safety, quality, and teamwork in a fast-paced manufacturing environment.
Responsibilities
- Hanging live birds
- Handling and processing inedible materials in accordance with food safety and environmental standards
- Trimming product to ensure proper quality standards are met
- Rehanger labor to ensure proper product flow
- Sorting duties, ensuring product meets FPS standards
- Whole bird processing and specialty handling
- Production flex assignments, rotating between positions as needed to support production requirements
- Adherence to all food safety, quality, animal welfare, and workplace safety policies
- Cleaning and sanitizing work areas, tools, and equipment as required
Work Environment and Physical Requirements
- Manufacturing environment with exposure to humid or warm temperatures, cold temperatures (below 40°F), wet conditions, and poultry products
- Standing and walking for extended periods of time
- Repetitive motions and frequent use of hands and arms
- Lifting, pushing, pulling, and handling product as required by the position
- Willing and able to lift/carry up to 45 lbs
- Use of knives or cutting tools in designated roles, following all safety procedures
- Bending and stooping
- Occasional squatting, reaching above shoulder (up to 2 ft.), crouching, kneeling, and balancing
- Occasional climbing (5–10 ft.)
Schedule
- Ability to work assigned shifts, including overtime, weekends, and holidays as needed
- Willingness to rotate between departments or positions based on operational needs

Candidates who have previously worked for Tyson will have a minimum rehire waiting period of 90 days and are limited to 3 times of employment.
