Located in Red Wing, Minnesota, Mayo Clinic Health System provides a community‑based orthopedic surgery practice with access to regional centers in Mankato and the tertiary referral center at Mayo Clinic Rochester (≈40 minutes away). The site serves a population of ~120,000 patients and offers a strong work‑life balance with shared trauma call.

The practice offers a full spectrum of orthopedic care with Mayo Clinic backing and subspecialty support. Clinic locations include Red Wing, Cannon Falls, Lake City, and other sites as needed. Red Wing Medical Center is a multi‑specialty group of over sixty providers on Hwy 61, featuring four ORs, two procedure rooms, and a C‑section OR. Elective cases are performed Monday‑Friday until 5:00 pm. The OR team consists of an RN, surgical tech, surgical assistant, and CRNA; anesthesia is provided by an MD/DO‑led group of CRNAs who administer pre‑ and post‑operative blocks. The orthopedic team works closely with a strong primary care group, a sports‑medicine‑trained physician, an orthopedic‑dedicated PA, and clinic RNs/MAs. Top‑notch equipment, robot access, and contracted vendors support implant needs. Surgical cases range from soft‑tissue repairs to large bone fractures and total joint replacements (knees, hips, shoulders). On‑site rehabilitation services are available, and the ED is capable of fracture/dislocation reductions, stabilization, and splinting. The hospital serves a primary care area of about 120,000 patients and demonstrates exceptional quality outcomes, including total joint results, Medicare star ratings, and NSQIP scores. Academic rank opportunities exist based on experience and record.

Responsibilities

Mayo Clinic Health System in Red Wing seeks a full‑time (1.0 FTE) general Orthopedic Surgeon to join a physician‑led multidisciplinary team. The surgeon will provide a full complement of orthopedic services, ranging from acute musculoskeletal injury (operative and non‑operative care) to total joint replacements of knees, hips, and shoulders. Responsibilities include collaborating with a team of general and specialty‑trained orthopedic surgeons, physician assistants, nurses, radiology, rehabilitation, pain clinic, and OR staff in an organized Level 4 trauma center. The role may involve leadership opportunities, outreach to Cannon Falls, Lake City, and Zumbrota, and participation in on‑call rotations (minimum 1 in 5).

Qualifications

• Board‑certified or Board‑eligible in Orthopedic Surgery
• Eligible for medical licensure in Minnesota
• Ability to supervise advanced practice clinicians and provide outreach services as needed
• Expectation to teach clinical staff, students, or residents as part of Mayo Clinic’s medical education philosophy
