General Operator

Hazleton Quarry, a division of H&K Group, Inc., is seeking a motivated and experienced General Operator to provide smooth operation of plant equipment while adhering to safety protocols.

About the role

As a General Operator at Hazleton Quarry, you will carry out essential duties to maintain plant equipment, ensure safety compliance, and support production schedules. The role involves daily inspections, equipment maintenance, and collaboration with the team to optimize quarry operations.

Responsibilities

• Perform all work according to MSHA and H&K Safety policies.
• Follow company start and stop procedures.
• Conduct daily greasing and oil checks on crushers and screens.
• Keep walkways clear of debris and report spillage issues to superintendent.
• Perform daily guarding inspections and plant checks; report maintenance issues to superintendent.
• Inspect screen media to ensure proper condition for maximum production.
• Maintain a clean operating booth, free from inappropriate materials.
• Carry out duties and work procedures to meet production schedules.
• Suggest changes in working conditions and equipment use to increase efficiency.
• Assist workers in solving production problems as needed.
• Complete necessary paperwork daily.
• Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

• High school diploma or equivalent (such as GED) from an accredited educational institution OR one month of related experience and/or training.
• Equivalent combinations of education and experience may be considered.
• Verbal and written communication skills.
• Problem-solving ability.
• Ability to fit test and utilize appropriate PPE as needed.
• Ability to meet physical requirements (movement, lifting, as relevant to the job).

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ months of related experience.
• Experience operating heavy equipment.
• Experience working in a quarry, heavy civil construction, or other outdoor industrial setting.
• MSHA or other relevant safety certification.

Physical Demands

• Regularly required to sit, use hands to finger, handle, or feel, and reach with hands and arms.
• Frequently required to talk or hear.
• Occasionally required to stand, walk, climb, or balance; stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl.
• Occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.
• Specific vision abilities include distance, peripheral, and depth perception.

Work Environment

• Regularly exposed to outside weather conditions and vibration.
• Frequently exposed to fumes, airborne particles, and moving parts.
• Noise level is usually loud.
