Responsibilities
- Teaching: Present lectures, seminars, conferences and rounds for residents and students (Years II, III and IV). Participate in Neurology grand rounds (attend weekly, present periodically). Conduct clinical (bedside and otherwise) teaching of neurology and other house staff and medical students in the outpatient clinic and during rounds on inpatient service at assigned hospital(s).
- Service (Patient Care): Develop and maintain a professional practice in accordance with departmental policy and the University practice plan (SIU Healthcare). Conduct 8 half-days of outpatient clinics per week including supervision of resident clinic. Provide inpatient care through consultations and, when appropriate, principal care as part of weekly rotations on the neurology inpatient service at assigned hospital(s). Provide outreach outpatient clinics as needed.
- Administration: Serve on university, departmental and hospital committees as needed. Participate in scheduled meetings as a member of the hospital staff at St. John’s Hospital, Springfield Memorial Hospital, Decatur Memorial Hospital and other partners as needed.
- Research: Participate in clinical trials of new therapies for neurologic disease. Publish research in peer reviewed journals and in other suitable scientific media. Present at regional, national and international scientific meetings.
Qualifications
- Sensitive to the needs of underrepresented minority populations.
- Licensed as a physician and neurologist in the State of Illinois at the time of hire.
- Board certified or board eligible in Neurology at the time of hire.
