Pay
The starting pay range for this position is $23.00 - $25.00 per hour. The full pay range is $23.00 - $39.10 per hour. Pay is based on several factors, including labor markets, education, work experience, and certifications.

Teams in General Merchandise (GM) prioritize guest experience while blending completion of tasks that ensure product is available and easy to shop—replenishment, pricing and signing, setting, and maintaining the sales floor and the backroom. The GM teams also execute inbound, outbound, and fulfillment responsibilities.
As a General Merchandise Team Leader, you will lead a team of hourly team members, focusing on guest service, operational efficiency, and process improvements. This role provides meaningful experiences to build and develop skills for a career, including:

- Retail business fundamentals, including sales trends, inventory management, and pricing strategies

Responsibilities
- Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience.
- Train and hold team members accountable for guest experience and operational consistency.
- Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities and drive results.
- Lead the execution of daily/weekly workload to meet department and store sales goals, including receiving products, merchandising, signing, setting, and updating sales floor displays.
- Educate your team on how operational procedures impact inventory management, store profitability, and product availability.
- Assess reporting to identify gaps in GM processes and develop plans to resolve them.
- Assign daily tasks based on workload and guest traffic patterns, ensuring alignment with business priorities.
- Help establish clear goals and expectations, holding team members accountable.
- Lead fulfillment work (pick, pack, and ship) accurately and assess reporting to identify gaps.
- Ensure product is in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor.
- Collaborate with all teams to ensure the store is guest-ready.
- Stay informed about trends and products to educate team members.
- Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team.
- Model best practices and help close skill gaps through coaching and development.
- Identify team members for future leader positions and build a talent pool.
- Support guest services, including back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes.
- Demonstrate inclusivity, ethical conduct, and compliance with all policies and safety procedures.
- Lead and model a safety culture, including hazard identification and incident response.
- Support merchandise protection strategies and follow physical security processes.
- Occasionally assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities.
Requirements
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Age 18 or older
- Previous retail experience preferred, but not required
- Ability to lead and hold others accountable
- Effective communication skills
- Capability to work independently and as part of a team
- Ability to manage workload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
- Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
- Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
- Interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately
- Handle cash register operations as needed
- Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting or moving merchandise up to 44 pounds without assistance
- Flexible work schedule (e.g., nights, weekends, holidays); reliable and prompt attendance necessary
- Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements
- Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift
