About the Role

This role is part of General Merchandise (GM) teams, which prioritize guest experience while ensuring product availability and ease of shopping through replenishment, pricing, signing, setting, and maintaining the sales floor and backroom. GM teams also handle inbound, outbound, and fulfillment responsibilities.

Responsibilities

  • Consistently deliver guest experience commitments to create an easy, inspiring, and friendly experience
  • Ensure team members understand, are trained on, and deliver Target’s guest experience commitments and consistent operations
  • Actively observe and provide feedback, holding team members accountable while recognizing great guest experience moments
  • Review guest, financial, and team outcome metrics to identify opportunities, improve execution, and celebrate wins
  • Lead daily/weekly workload execution to meet department and store sales goals, including receiving products, merchandising, signing, setting, and updating sales floor displays
  • Educate the team on how operational procedures affect inventory management, store profitability, and product availability
  • Assess reporting to identify gaps in GM processes and assist in developing resolution plans
  • Assign daily tasks based on planned workload and guest traffic patterns
  • Help establish clear goals and expectations, holding team members accountable
  • Lead pick, pack, and ship fulfillment work accurately (if applicable) and assess reporting to identify gaps
  • Ensure product is in stock, available, accurately priced, and signed on the sales floor while prioritizing guest experience
  • Collaborate with all teams to ensure the store is guest-ready
  • Stay informed about trends and products to educate team members during connection moments
  • Evaluate candidates for open positions and develop a guest-centric team
  • Model best practices for onboarding, learning, and closing skill gaps through coaching
  • Support guest services, including back-up cashier and digital fulfillment processes, while maintaining compliance
  • Demonstrate inclusivity by valuing diverse voices and creating equitable experiences
  • Uphold a culture of ethical conduct, safety, and compliance with all policies and procedures
  • Lead and model a safety culture, correcting hazards and reporting injuries
  • Support merchandise protection strategies, including ordering, storage, and application
  • Assume store-level leadership on duty (LOD) responsibilities as needed
  • Address all store emergency and compliance needs

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Age 18 or older
  • Previous retail experience preferred but not required
  • Ability to lead and hold others accountable
  • Effective communication skills using multiple frequency devices, handheld scanners, and other technology
  • Capability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Manage workload and prioritize tasks in a fast-paced environment
  • Welcoming and helpful attitude toward guests and team members
  • Access all areas of the building to respond to guest or team member issues
  • Interpret instructions, reports, and information accurately
  • Handle cash register operations as needed
  • Climb up and down ladders
  • Scan, handle, and move merchandise efficiently and safely, including lifting up to 44 pounds without assistance
  • Flexible work schedule, including nights, weekends, and holidays; reliable and prompt attendance
  • Capable of working in varying temperatures, humidity, and other elements
  • Ability to remain mobile for the duration of a scheduled shift (shift length may vary)

Although the role is full-time, it does not guarantee 40 hours each week. Hours depend on business needs and may fluctuate.
