General Manager - United States
About the role
The General Manager leads a mid-sized site or multiple smaller sites, taking full accountability for operational performance, people leadership, customer delivery, financial results, and execution of enterprise strategy.
Responsibilities
Own overall site performance across safety, quality, delivery, cost, productivity, inventory, employee engagement, and customer commitments.
Lead daily, weekly, and monthly operating rhythms to ensure visibility to performance, timely issue escalation, and disciplined follow-through on corrective actions.
Ensure standardization, consistency, and effective use of operating systems, management routines, and performance review processes across assigned site(s).
Drive operational discipline, execution excellence, and accountability through clear priorities, measurable goals, and consistent leader standard work.
Identify operational risks, capacity constraints, resource gaps, and performance trends; develop proactive mitigation plans to protect customer delivery and business results.
Translate enterprise strategy into actionable site-level plans, priorities, KPIs, and communication rhythms that align leaders and employees around business goals.
Lead continuous improvement initiatives that improve efficiency, yield, quality systems, flow, labor productivity, and overall operating performance.
Support scaling efforts through process discipline, operational readiness, workforce planning, technology adoption, and effective change management.
Partner with enterprise leaders to prioritize investments, capabilities, and resources required to meet current and future business needs.
Communicate strategy, performance expectations, and progress in a clear, consistent way that builds alignment and accountability across the site.
Requirements
Bachelor’s Degree required; degree in Business, Operations, Engineering, Supply Chain, or related field preferred.
Advanced degree, Lean/Six Sigma certification, or equivalent operational excellence training preferred.
15+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, engineering, or a relevant regulated industry.
Demonstrated success leading a mid-sized site or multiple smaller locations with accountability for performance, people leadership, and financial outcomes.
Strong track record of improving operational performance through continuous improvement, process discipline, cost management, productivity improvement, and quality systems.
Experience leading cross-functional, matrixed teams and driving accountability across functions that may not directly report to the role.
Experience operating in customer-facing environments where delivery, responsiveness, quality, and relationship management are critical to business success.
Experience developing leaders, building succession strength, and improving organizational capability during periods of growth, complexity, or change.
Strong operational leadership and execution discipline, including the ability to translate priorities into clear plans, metrics, ownership, and results.
Working knowledge of regulated environments, quality systems, and compliance expectations such as FDA, ISO, GMP, or comparable standards.
Financial acumen in budgeting, forecasting, cost management, margin improvement, capital planning, and performance metrics.
Ability to lead through change, scale operations, build organizational capability, and drive continuous improvement across people, process, systems, and culture.
Strong communication and influencing skills with the ability to align senior leaders, functional partners, managers, and frontline employees.
Data-driven decision-making capability, including the ability to interpret operational, financial, quality, workforce, and customer metrics to prioritize action.
Qualifications

Experience: 15+ years of progressive leadership experience in manufacturing, operations, supply chain, engineering, or a relevant regulated industry.
