General Manager (Site)
About the Role
As the Site General Manager, you will be an inspirational leader overseeing a designated travel center, responsible for coaching and leading the site in operating a successful and profitable location. You will build and maintain a strong, dynamic leadership team by communicating a clear vision and providing direction on training and development, profitability, site maintenance, safety, and more. This role ensures we return every traveler to the road better than they came.
Responsibilities
- Supervise the management team and overall operations of the designated location.
- Maintain a professional demeanor with high character, honesty, and integrity in all business affairs; inspire the same in the Profit Center Managers, their teams, and all team members.
- Establish and meet company objectives related to people, profit, safety, quality of service, and appearance of the locations.
- Coach, teach, and demonstrate sound customer service principles to all team members, including direct customer contact to resolve issues.
- Partner with Profit Center Managers and Talent Acquisition to identify top management-level talent, review staffing levels, and develop the management team and successors.
- Monitor key performance indicators to identify opportunities for improvement and communicate these to the District Manager and management team.
- Ensure programs are properly implemented and maintained for the safety of customers and team members.
- Assess performance of Profit Center Managers, complete appraisals of direct reports, and recommend advancements and merit increases.
- Address customer complaints promptly and develop strategies to reduce or eliminate their recurrence; actively solicit employee and customer input to improve operations.
- Ensure awareness and compliance with all federal, state, and local regulations impacting operations.
- Oversee accurate and timely completion and submission of reports, personnel records, timesheets, price surveys, and other required documentation.
- Supervise a travel center operating multiple profit centers, potentially 24 hours per day, 365 days per year.
- Lead the management team to maintain and safeguard company property, equipment, funds, and merchandise, ensuring all loss prevention and audit policies are executed.
- Manage location operations while controlling operating expenses within established budgets.
- Ensure compliance with wage and hour obligations, accurate time records, and proper compensation for non-exempt employees.
- Develop and implement programs to recognize and reward outstanding customer service; set an example of exceptional service.
- Work with the District Manager to develop succession plans for departments and provide employees with career growth opportunities.
- Responsible for accurate forecasting of total site results and achieving budgeted site EBITDA.
- Complete lead certification requirements related to restaurant brands managed.
- Ensure all required training is completed within 90 days, including federal/state/local law, company policies, and job skills.
Requirements
- High School Diploma (or GED) required; Associate’s or bachelor’s degree preferred.
- 3+ years of experience in a leadership role with proven positive results.
- Proficient planning and analytical skills (e.g., understanding P&L calculations, coverage ratio, budget, and expense reports) to achieve positive financial results.
- Ability to perform all non-management functions to assist when needed.
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and operational understanding of POS software.
- Valid driver’s license with appropriate insurance coverage and acceptable driving record.

Pay
Pay Range: $70,000.00 - $80,000.00 annually. The pay will depend on various factors, such as responsibilities, job duties, relevant experience, and skills.
Physical Demands and Work Environment
Physical Demands: Regularly required to talk and hear. Occasionally involves standing, walking, kneeling, stooping, bending, crouching, crawling, climbing, and repetitive leg use. May occasionally lift up to 50 lbs or move heavy objects. Requires close, distance, color, and peripheral vision, depth perception, and the ability to adjust focus.
Work Environment: May be exposed to outdoor elements in all seasons, fumes, particles, moving mechanical parts, and vibration. Noise levels can be loud. Exposure to dirt, dust, grime, grease, oil, gas, and high-concentrated cleaning solutions is possible.
