General Manager in Training
We are a growing, locally owned home-services company providing pest control, mosquito control, and professional lighting services throughout the Greater Greenville area. We are seeking a motivated, hands-on General Manager in Training who wants to learn how to operate and grow a service business from the ground up.
About the role
This is not a traditional office management position. You will initially work alongside ownership and our employees to learn every aspect of the business, including field operations, customer service, scheduling, sales, hiring, training, inventory, equipment, financial performance, and team leadership. As you demonstrate proficiency and leadership ability, you will assume increasing responsibility for managing the day-to-day business. Our objective is to develop the successful candidate into the General Manager responsible for running the company’s daily operations.

Responsibilities
Operations
- Coordinating daily schedules and technician routes
- Ensuring jobs are properly staffed and completed on schedule
- Monitoring field productivity and workmanship
- Performing quality-control inspections
- Managing inventory, materials, tools, and equipment
- Ensuring vehicles and equipment are properly maintained
- Helping resolve operational problems
- Improving processes and operating efficiency
- Supporting field operations when additional help is required
Hiring, Training & Employee Leadership
- Recruiting and interviewing prospective employees
- Hiring and onboarding employees
- Training new technicians
- Scheduling and supervising employees
- Establishing performance expectations
- Coaching employees and providing feedback
- Addressing performance issues
- Developing employees capable of assuming additional responsibilities
- Planning staffing levels for seasonal changes in demand

Requirements
- Previous pest-control or lighting experience is not required
- Leadership potential and a desire to learn how to run and grow a business

Prior experience supervising employees in home services, construction, landscaping, pest control, electrical work, hospitality, retail, logistics, military service, or another service-oriented business is highly desirable. A college degree is not required.
Physical Requirements

Pay
Starting Base Compensation: $4,000 per month ($48,000 annually). In addition to base compensation, the position offers the opportunity to earn additional compensation based upon individual and company performance.

Your Career Path
This position is designed as a progression rather than simply a job.
- Phase 1 – Learn: Work alongside ownership and employees to learn field operations, customers, systems, equipment, sales, and company processes.
- Phase 2 – Supervise: Begin managing schedules, technicians, inventory, customer issues, and quality control.
- Phase 3 – Manage: Assume responsibility for hiring, training, staffing, daily operations, productivity, customer satisfaction, and operating KPIs.
- Phase 4 – Lead: Demonstrate the ability to independently manage daily operations and be accountable for revenue, costs, profitability, employees, and customer satisfaction.
- Phase 5 – General Manager: Upon successfully demonstrating the ability to lead the operation, the General Manager in Training may be promoted to General Manager, with compensation and incentives reviewed based upon the expanded responsibilities and performance of the business.
