General Manager (Head Coach) - Fairfax County

About the role

South Block is expanding rapidly across the DMV and beyond, and is seeking leaders to join its growth. The position is titled Head Coach and differs from a typical General Manager role. You will lead all aspects of store operations, build and develop a high‑performing team, nurture the company culture, and receive support to expand your own skills and career.

Responsibilities

• Lead the store with positive energy, accountability, and a focus on people and performance.
• Manage performance, people, and overall operations.
• Hire, train, and develop team members to deliver exceptional guest experiences on every shift.
• Create schedules that support both business needs and team members’ needs.
• Keep operations running smoothly.
• Build future leaders and maintain a strong internal bench.
• Foster a people‑first culture with hands‑on coaching, feedback, and development.

Requirements

• 2+ years of General Manager experience in the food & beverage or hospitality industry.
• Hospitality mindset with a passion for people, culture, and the guest experience.
• Hands‑on leadership style.
• Calm, flexible, and solution‑oriented in a fast‑paced environment.
• Must be 21+ years old.
• Ability to stand for long periods and lift up to 25 lb.

Pay

$60,000–$70,000 base salary, plus a quarterly bonus program and a deferred profit‑sharing program.
