About the role
The GM/COO is responsible for the Club’s financial and operational stability. A successful new GM/COO at The Quarry at La Quinta must possess especially strong skills in leading and mentoring a staff of well-regarded employees and holding them accountable for their performance. The GM/COO is responsible for ensuring the organization complies with all state and federal regulations governing the operation of private clubs. This individual is expected to operate the Club as a first-class organization for all stakeholders, including the current membership, guests, and employees.
Responsibilities
- Bring together and create synergy among the leadership team while successfully integrating the Club’s new Executive Chef, Director of Golf and First Assistant golf professional into a cohesive, high-performing culture.
- Build trust, alignment, and strong relationships among the Board, membership, leadership team, and staff through visible, engaged, and transparent leadership.
- Partner with the Board in clarifying, aligning, and advancing a long-term vision for The Quarry while ensuring the strategic priorities, resources, and operational disciplines are in place to bring that vision to life.
- Preserve and enhance The Quarry’s defining golf experience, including exceptional course conditioning, pace of play, and the Club’s highly valued open first-tee philosophy.
- Elevate consistency, professionalism and service standards across golf operations, outside services, and food and beverage while maintaining The Quarry’s golf-centric identity.
Requirements
- A minimum of 7-10 years of verifiable executive leadership and management experience in an active private country club or resort with a golf emphasis or in well-regarded, service-focused, iconic hospitality environments is preferred.
- A seasoned veteran in the club industry or a true “rising star” who has been verifiably well-mentored, preferably at larger clubs.
- Exceptional leadership skills with a proven track record of leading, developing and unifying teams across a variety of functional areas.
- Strong communication skills (verbal and written).
- Demonstrated ability to facilitate large projects.
- A history of continuous learning and education through various professional industry organizations.
- In-depth understanding of the game of golf.
- A demonstrable record of success, an unimpeachable reputation, and an instinctive “gravitas” or charisma.
Qualifications
- A bachelor’s degree is preferred, with a focus on Hospitality Management.
- Substantial private club or hospitality experience will be considered in lieu of the degree.
- Industry certifications such as CCM, CCE, CMC, or PGA are encouraged but not required.
