About the Role

TK Elevator is seeking an experienced General Manager in Columbus, OH, responsible for driving revenue growth and managing the branch’s P&L. This role involves overseeing all departments and lines of business to exceed business goals, fostering a culture of safety, professionalism, and ownership, and ensuring the branch’s daily operations run efficiently and cost-effectively.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise department managers and superintendents, providing direction, training, and communicating company policies, procedures, and objectives.
  • Lead performance management, progressive discipline, and ensure compliance with company directives and initiatives, including local branch efforts for the global employee survey.
  • Champion the company’s commitment to safety, administer the safety program, perform safety audits, and chair the branch safety committee.
  • Lead by example in customer service, follow through on NPS scores, and ensure efficient daily operations to meet financial commitments, including EBIT and gross margin goals.
  • Manage profit and loss (P&L) and use accounting reports to measure department performance against monthly budgetary goals; prepare yearly budgets for district and regional management.
  • Conduct quarterly and annual unprofitable account reviews and follow-ups.
  • Work with sales managers to increase the customer base or directly handle sales management responsibilities, including presentations, resolving customer problems, and bidding on large or complex jobs.
  • Review and approve revenue and margins for sales proposals, oversee sales incentives, and ensure the use of the CRM program.
  • Oversee retention of service contracts, with direct involvement in “at-risk” customer accounts, and lead customer retention programs using NPS scores and related tools.
  • Develop and maintain strong relationships with clients, elevator consultants, building owners, managers, and prospects.
  • Ensure timely and consistent employee performance processes for both union and non-union employees; recommend merit increases and review compensation structures.
  • Maintain a strong working knowledge of the market, including sales backlog, service volume, competition, and staffing requirements.
  • Stay updated on federal, state, and local elevator industry codes, as well as employment and labor laws.
  • Maintain familiarity with company products through training and equipment updates.
  • Understand and manage the contract with the International Union of Elevator Constructors, including resolving grievances and union employee issues.
  • Review and approve invoices, accounts receivables, write-offs, and credits; assist in collecting problem accounts and lead meetings on over-90-day receivables.
  • Interface with corporate and US field departments, including factory, legal, labor relations, and regional teams.
  • Represent the company in legal proceedings when requested.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Thorough knowledge of the elevator industry and general management methods.
  • Bachelor’s degree.
  • Proven success in managing and developing talent.
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
  • Ability to interpret technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form and handle abstract and concrete variables.
  • General understanding of engineering and physics principles is preferred.
  • Up to 25% travel required.

Pay

Salary range: $170,000–$200,000. The role includes a car allowance, fuel card, and an annual incentive program.
