About the role
The ideal candidate will provide overall management of the Transdev Rail Construction and Maintenance Division in California. This includes general operational oversight, day-to-day project management, customer interface, safety and security, maintenance, required reporting and compliance, administrative management, and pricing including issues of employment and financial performance.
Responsibilities
- Oversee day-to-day operations, pricing, maintenance and administrative activities.
- Collects, analyzes and interprets key performance indicators and takes appropriate actions.
- Create and maintain strong relationships between the community and Transdev Rail.
- Represents Transdev Rail, and other company officials as directed, in a variety of meetings as necessary.
- Represents the company as directed by Senior Rail Leadership in matters related to labor agreement negotiations and interpretation.
- Execute maintenance and materials procurement plans, freight and commuter rail construction and MOW procedures, and related tasks for managing facility and maintenance requirements, including right-of-way, signals, track work, communications, maintenance and rail station facilities, and staffing plans.
- Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- A minimum of 10 years management experience in Class One rail maintenance or construction.
- Bachelor’s Degree in engineering, construction management, bid estimation and any combination of education and experience.
- 10 years related experience in rail or transit, with 8 years in rail MOW, management positions or demonstrated management experience equivalent to scope.
- Comprehensive knowledge of public management and organization theories, principles, practices and techniques.
- Ability to understand sound fiscal financial principles.
- Thorough knowledge of the basic laws, ordinances and regulations underlying the rail operation.
- California Contractors License or ability to test and pass the California Contractors Licensing Test.
Physical Demands
- 90% of work is accomplished in doors and in air conditioned or well-ventilated facilities.
- 10% of work is accomplished outside in varying temperature, weather, and humidity conditions; most work is performed alone and in remote locations.
- Frequently stands and walks; ability to sit for up to three hours; walk for long distances and on possible sloped ground or slippery and uneven surfaces; normal manual dexterity and eye-hand coordination; ability to lift material weighing up to 25 lbs. with assistance; ability to bend and stooph; and corrected hearing and vision to normal range; verbal communication.
- Exposure to considerable amounts of dust, vehicle fumes, and noise.
- Must be able to travel for company training, meeting or support missions.
