General Manager

About the role

The General Manager role is a full-time, hybrid position based in Waukesha, WI, with some work-from-home flexibility.

Responsibilities

• Oversight of daily store operations, including sales floor performance, customer service standards, merchandising, and inventory management to ensure an exceptional shopping experience.
• Leadership and coaching of a diverse team of associates, setting clear performance expectations, and managing scheduling and staffing levels.
• Ensuring the achievement of revenue and profitability goals, analyzing store metrics, and implementing strategies to drive sales growth while controlling expenses.
• Collaboration with corporate leadership on promotional initiatives, maintaining compliance with company policies and safety standards, and representing Steinhafels’ values in all interactions with customers and team members.

Qualifications

• Leadership and people management skills, including team coaching, performance management, and talent development.
• Retail operations and sales management experience, such as overseeing store performance, sales processes, merchandising, and inventory control.
• Customer service and relationship-building skills, with the ability to create a welcoming environment and resolve issues effectively.
• Business acumen, including budgeting, forecasting, analyzing KPIs, and implementing strategies to achieve revenue and profitability targets.
• Strong communication, collaboration, and interpersonal skills to work effectively with associates, corporate teams, and customers.
• Organizational and problem-solving skills, with the ability to prioritize tasks, manage multiple responsibilities, and adapt to changing demands.
• Proficiency with basic office and retail technologies (POS systems, spreadsheets, and reporting tools); comfort working in a hybrid environment.
• Previous experience in retail or multi-unit management is highly beneficial; experience in furniture or home décor is a plus.
