About the role

The General Manager acts as the primary owner of the Retail Stores Operational Plan, responsible for ensuring performance objectives are met and business results are achieved. You will collaborate with the VP of Stores to develop and implement strategies for achieving the store’s financial goals and partner with all other functional heads to achieve company objectives.

Day-to-day duties include scheduling team members, guaranteeing guests the Robbins Brothers experience, adhering to the visual guide, managing the budget, and ensuring merchandise security. The General Manager is accountable for attracting and hiring talented store associates, guiding them through training requirements, and providing long-term coaching for professional development. You will evaluate performance, deliver timely reviews, and maintain a succession plan while modeling Robbins Brothers values and policies.

Responsibilities

  • Collaborate with the VP of Stores to develop and implement strategies for achieving financial goals.
  • Partner with functional heads to achieve company objectives.
  • Manage the Floor Manager, who will assist in overseeing store operations and sales responsibilities.
  • Create a positive work environment and foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration among associates.
  • Communicate effectively with the team, set clear expectations, and recognize and reward associates for their contributions.
  • Attract, hire, and guide store associates through training and professional development.
  • Evaluate performance and deliver timely reviews while maintaining a succession plan.
  • Schedule team members and ensure adherence to Robbins Brothers policies, procedures, and visual guides.
  • Manage the store budget and ensure merchandise security.

Sales Management

  • Guide employees in all aspects of the business as required, in coordination with the Floor Manager.
  • Create a positive work environment and foster a culture of teamwork and collaboration among associates.
  • Communicate effectively with the team and set clear sales performance expectations.
  • Design and assign sales floor coverage to increase opportunities.
  • Maximize sales opportunities by directing guest flow through the store and working through sales associates.
  • Utilize positive coaching to advise sales associates and deliver an enhanced in-store guest experience.
  • Maximize average sale with each guest and increase close percentage to achieve sales opportunities.
  • Develop the sales culture through visible data, recognition, and accountability.
  • Master the utilization of the Salesforce system and coach sales associates in its appropriate use.
  • Adhere to Salesforce metric objectives for data collection, tasks, and appointments.

People Development

  • Demonstrate proficiency in attracting and evaluating sales talent.
  • Facilitate effective sales associate hiring and retention.
  • Ensure sales associates complete required onboarding training and company-sponsored education programs within specified timeframes.
  • Create a team-oriented environment within the workplace.
  • Facilitate skill development of sales associates by providing clear, behaviorally specific performance feedback that builds confidence and maintains self-esteem.
  • Hold employees accountable for sales targets, strategic goals, and personal improvement expectations.
  • Construct a collaborative team culture that fosters sales productivity and problem-solving.
  • Create a sense of belonging for associates and establish best practices that enhance trust between team members.
  • Encourage, inspire, mentor, and recognize team members for performance.
  • Deliver effective performance evaluations within required timeframes.
  • Adhere to company policies and procedures for documenting human resource actions, including hiring, training attendance, performance evaluations, and disciplinary incidents.
  • Conduct succession planning at required intervals.

Merchandise Management

  • Complete required product training within specified timeframes.
  • Acquire expert product knowledge and stay up to date on incoming merchandise.
  • Train and coach sales associates in all product categories and work effectively with designers.
  • Coach sales associates on maximizing gross margin when exploring product options and utilizing resources to craft optimal sales.
  • Adhere to visual guides for merchandise displays and follow Robbins Brothers best practices.
  • Ensure merchandise display best practices are implemented.
  • Adhere to and hold sales associates accountable for Robbins Brothers quality control and security standards when handling merchandise.
  • Control inventory shrinkage by adhering to Robbins Brothers security and loss prevention policies and procedures.

Business Acumen

  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of budgets, monitor sales and expenses, and ensure the store operates within financial targets.
  • Analyze financial data to identify areas of opportunity and risk, and develop strategies to address concerns.
  • Achieve results through effective business planning and execution.
  • Plan critical business activities and accomplish them within required timeframes.
  • Adjust sales approaches to evolving conditions and recognize the most important tasks of store operations.
  • Exhibit effective business problem-solving skills for unpredictable and complex situations.

Store Operations and Maintenance

  • Ensure compliance with opening and closing policies and procedures.
  • Adhere to store operational guidelines to ensure optimal guest experience.
  • Manage store maintenance concerns without delay.

Experience

  • Management experience: 5 or more years (Required)
  • Jewelry retail management experience: 5 years or more (Preferred)
  • Customer service: 5 years or more (Preferred)
  • High-end sales: 3 years or more (Preferred)
  • CRM software experience: 3 years (Preferred)
  • Salesforce experience: 2 years (Preferred)
