About the role
The General Manager is the leader of the Potbelly shop, responsible for creating an environment of belonging and teamwork to make Potbelly a fun place for team members and customers. They should bring their good vibes every day and have a friendly, customer-first mindset with the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment.
Responsibilities
- Train, coach, and develop all shop team members to realize their potential
- Assess staff abilities and create effective development plans
- Interview, select, and hire great people who represent Potbelly Values
- Develop and maintain Good Vibes culture that fosters strong attraction and retention
- Effectively schedule Associates, Certified Trainers, and Shift Leaders
- Update communication board with critical shop information
- Hold regular meetings with key shop staff
- Effectively delegate tasks to team and ensure a high standard of execution
- Ensure all security procedures are followed
- Ensure back-of-the-house procedural standards are met
- Count drawers and follow proper daily cash handling procedures
- Effectively drive neighborhood shop marketing and promotions to maximize sales potential
- Control cost of goods, variances, and inventories within the shop
- Create a marketing plan and lead local shop marketing to increase sales
- Control assigned P&L line items
- Comply with health and safety standards for food, cleanliness, and safety
- Effectively handle customer complaints/issues
- Other duties as assigned
Requirements
- At least 18 years of age
- Minimum of 2 years as a General Manager in a restaurant or retail environment with P&L responsibility preferred
- Meet all Food Safety requirements within your state and obtain a Food Safety Certification
- Strong written and verbal communication skills
- Ability to thrive in a fast-paced, energetic environment
- Open availability
- Able to maintain deadlines and prioritize while running an effective shift
- Strong organizational skills and ability to multitask
- Comfortable working in a bustling kitchen environment
- Able to manage potential allergens
- Ability to build and develop strong teams and handle conflict resolution
- Strong interviewing skills
- Able to write effective schedules and maintain labor goals
- Microsoft Office skills
- Strong business acumen and ability to understand and interpret financial reports
- Able to stand/walk for 8-9 hours or as needed
- Able to lift up to 10 pounds frequently and up to 50 pounds occasionally

Pay
$60,000 - $65,000 base salary range + bonus potential
