General Manager

About the role

The General Manager is a hands-on leader responsible for the operations and overall performance of ND Packaging’s Langhorne, PA facility. This role is actively engaged on the plant floor, working closely with stakeholders to ensure safe, efficient, and reliable operations.

Responsibilities

• Demonstrate safety as a core value and establish a safe work environment by actively leading the safe execution of work.
• Direct and oversee daily plant operations, ensuring efficient production, high product quality, and on-time delivery.
• Develop and implement strategies to optimize productivity, reduce costs, and improve operational performance.
• Manage plant P&L, including budgeting, forecasting, and cost control initiatives.
• Identify and implement cost-saving opportunities without compromising quality or customer service.
• Maintain strong relationships with key customers to ensure satisfaction and retention.
• Collaborate with sales and customer service teams to meet customer requirements.
• Manage vendor relationships to ensure quality supply and cost efficiency.
• Ensure compliance with all local, state, and federal regulations.
• Champion workplace safety initiatives and maintain a safe work environment.
• Oversee quality systems and ensure adherence to industry standards.

Qualifications and Skills

• Educational background: Bachelor’s degree in business, engineering, or related field preferred; or equivalent work experience.
• Experience: At least 10 years of progressive leadership in manufacturing, direct experience in packaging and corrugate manufacturing required.
• Financial and business acumen: Excellent financial and business acumen with proven experience managing a full P&L.
• Lean manufacturing: Experience with lean manufacturing and continuous improvement methodologies.
• Capital projects: High level management of capital projects and investments across multiple functions.
• Servant leadership: Proven servant leadership mindset while supporting multiple teams and operational excellence.
• Technical skills: Extensive corrugated packaging knowledge, project management, plant safety and regulatory compliance, quality management systems, production planning and inventory control systems.

Key Performance Indicators (KPI’s)

• On-time delivery
• Production throughput
• Overall equipment effectiveness
• Scrap and waste %
• Planned vs unplanned downtime
• Plant operating margin
• Total recordable incident rate
