About the role

As a MOD Pizza General Manager, you contribute to the success of the MOD community by leading your restaurant and a team of squad to deliver the MOD commitment to your guests. This is a position that requires genuine love for people, business savvy, and a high level of care and accountability. Your objective is to live, teach, and demonstrate MOD Pizza culture in all interactions with your squad and guests, while maintaining the profitability of your restaurant.

You will spend your time in two key areas: working shoulder to shoulder with your squad coaching and supporting them and modeling a great guest experience, and admin work focused on making business and community engagement plans as well as completing other GM-specific tasks. Success in this role is measured through managing the restaurant’s financial performance and by developing others and inspiring them to reach their potential.

Responsibilities

  • Provide leadership to the entire squad with additional focus on developing leadership capabilities in the restaurant. This is a leader of leaders role; leading through other leaders is key to success by ensuring delegations are executed while keeping full accountability of all performance in the restaurant.
  • Identify opportunities to improve and/or maintain restaurant performance by regularly reviewing results and developing action plans to achieve success using MOD tools (P&L, scorecard, etc.).
  • Own restaurant staffing. Be proactive in building talent pipelines and seek support ahead of a crisis. Conduct kind and compliant interviews, utilizing provided tools and trainings. Treat every candidate as a guest to uplift their dignity.
  • Follow policies and timelines for all required employee processing and compliance documentation throughout the employee lifecycle.
  • Utilize MOD training plans to help newly hired squad members progress on their learning journey, ensuring they see the impact of their contributions quickly. Continuously assess every learner and provide the right level of support to execute MOD standards.
  • Act as a proactive community engagement ambassador, championing how MOD and the community lift each other up. Positively impact the restaurant’s financial performance through fundraising, catering, and other community initiatives.
  • Utilize forecasts and the labor model to thoughtfully plan and distribute staffing and schedules in a timely manner. Accommodate schedule requests and flexibility when possible, without compromising appropriate staffing levels.
  • Maintain MOD’s Loss Prevention and Asset Protection procedures regarding cash handling, food safety, and restaurant safety & security.
  • Manage squad performance in the restaurant, including timely performance feedback and holding everyone accountable for following established standards while building a growth mindset culture.
  • Own, delegate, and manage ordering and inventory functions to ensure restaurant performance meets targets.
  • Read and comprehend all internal communications impacting restaurant operations. Communicate the information and take necessary actions in an expected time frame, including attending meetings, huddles, and training events.
  • Build a strong working relationship with vendors and the internal facilities team to ensure the restaurant stays in optimum condition to deliver a consistent, high-quality experience to guests and squad.

Requirements

  • 2+ years of experience leading leaders in restaurant management.
  • Experience executing training, performance, and staffing programs in a restaurant or similar environment.
  • Strong business acumen with the ability to read and develop action plans from financial reports.
  • Prior experience working with internal support teams in Human Resources, Supply Chain, Marketing, and other functions.
  • Ability to act decisively using sound logic, even without complete information or direction.
  • Obtain a food safety certification and/or alcohol beverage certification within 30 days of your start date or sooner where required by law.
  • Proficient in written and oral communication.
  • Able to support restaurant hours, including peak demand hours (nights and weekends).
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Management experience in a fast-casual restaurant environment.

Physical Requirements

  • Ability to work in an open kitchen environment, rotating between front and back of house, involving walking, bending, twisting, reaching, stooping, kneeling, crouching, carrying, pushing, and pulling objects weighing up to fifty pounds.
  • Operate hand-held appliances, sharp knives, and various kitchen equipment, including industrial can openers, dough presses, industrial dishwashers, and very hot ovens.
  • Depending on the location, may need to go up and down stairs and/or use an elevator.
  • Ability to communicate and exchange information quickly with squad members and others.

Pay

$55,000 - $65,000. Wage will vary based on a candidate’s qualifications, competencies, experience, and geographic location.
