General Manager

About the role

Millcreek Metals, a premier metal recycling company servicing the South Eastern Idaho region and part of Metro Group, Inc., is seeking a self-motivated General Manager to lead our Blackfoot location. The ideal candidate is passionate about customer service, team optimization, and executing winning strategies to deliver exceptional service in a safe and effective manner.

Responsibilities

• Oversee all aspects of the facility, including employees across Ferrous, Non-Ferrous, Processing, Transportation, and Administrative departments.
• Hire, supervise, and manage 15-20 employees, ensuring alignment with company guidelines and performance goals.
• Direct and train staff, including onboarding new employees.
• Develop and implement growth strategies for the location.
• Foster a strong safety culture and maintain a clean, efficient working environment.
• Promote a customer-service-oriented team.
• Schedule preventative maintenance and repairs for company equipment.
• Continuously measure and improve company processes and equipment.
• Achieve production targets for volume processed, material recovery, and quality.
• Handle administrative duties, including approving time cards and submitting them to payroll.

Requirements

• Leadership experience in scrap yard or warehouse operations (required).
• Transportation scheduling experience.
• Ability to lead, motivate, and resolve employee conflicts.
• Knowledge of the scrap metal industry (a plus).
• Accuracy in reporting and paperwork.
• Heavy equipment operating experience (e.g., frontend loaders, skid-steer, excavators, forklifts).
• Four-year bachelor’s degree.

Preferred Qualifications

• 3+ years of Ferrous/Non-Ferrous recycling experience.

Physical Requirements

• Ability to sit, bend, stoop, kneel, crouch, reach, and work on your feet for extended periods.
• Occasionally lift up to 50 pounds.
• Frequently use hands, fingers, reach with hands and arms, climb or balance, and stoop, kneel, or crouch.
