General Manager

KidStrong Reno · Oklahoma City, OK · 5 days ago
Manufacturing$55k–$70k/yrFull-time

About the role

At KidStrong, our mission is to build strong, confident, high-character kids who run the playground, raise their hand high in the classroom, and make friends wherever they go. Our science-based curriculum develops the whole child — Brain, Physical, and Character — and as a General Manager, you own it all. You're the leader your team looks up to, the face your families trust, and the operator your center depends on. This role is for someone who wants to lead, developing people and building kids as two sides of the same mission.

Responsibilities

  • Coach
    • Deliver KidStrong's curriculum to kids ages crawling–11 in dynamic, high-energy 45-minute classes
    • Develop Brain, Physical, and Character in every session — not just athletic skills
    • Build genuine relationships with kids and families before, during, and after class
    • Achieve and maintain Coach Certification through the HQ Training & Certification team
    • Know the why behind our curriculum and communicate it clearly to families and your team
  • Lead
    • Set the culture — define it, model it, protect it
    • Recruit, hire, onboard, develop, and hold accountable a high-performing coaching team
    • Conduct regular 1:1s and coach evaluations to drive consistent coach development
    • Develop your AGM as a future GM — their growth is part of your job
    • Hold the team accountable to KidStrong's member experience standards in every class and every interaction
    • Lead center staff meetings focused on culture, development, product, and performance
    • Stay current on weekly programming rollouts and ensure center-level adoption to maintain class quality standards
    • Stay up to date on all HQ communications and execute initiatives
    • Attend weekly leadership meetings and all required HQ coaching, rollout, and update calls
    • Own change management for all required processes, systems, and initiatives — ensure full team alignment and adoption
  • Operate
    • Understand your numbers, identify opportunities, and build and implement plans to hit your targets
    • Own the full member experience — from a family's first trial to long-term membership
    • Manage center scheduling and payroll, ensuring accuracy and alignment with the employee handbook and all required policies
    • Manage daily, weekly, and monthly center cleaning and maintenance
    • Schedule, sell, and staff KidStrong Camps and parties to maximize center profitability
    • Manage center reputation including online reviews and local community presence
    • Ensure brand consistency across all center-level activity
  • Sell
    • Drive membership growth through proactive lead management including outbound calls, SMS, and email
    • Own all sales and operational targets and implement strategies and tactics to meet or exceed them
    • Convert trials into memberships by delivering an amazing trial experience and holding your team to the same standard
    • Source and attend local community events to build brand awareness and generate leads
    • Manage event leads and follow-ups to drive bookings and support conversion from event attendee to membership

Requirements

  • Genuine passion for working with kids — non-negotiable
  • High energy, strong presence, and the ability to lead a room of kids, parents, and coaches
  • Athletic or coaching background, ideally with kids ages crawling–11
  • Proven leadership or management experience — you've led people and delivered results
  • CPR/AED certified (or willing to obtain)
  • Availability including evenings and weekends (typically 4 weekday + 1 weekend shift)
  • Physically active — you'll cover miles on the floor, demonstrate movements, and move equipment up to 25 lbs per shift

Qualifications (Strongly Preferred)

  • Experience in sales, enrollment, or membership-based environments
  • Familiarity with tools like Glofox, LearnUpon, CareerPlug, or ADP
  • Background in PE, child development, athletic training, or pediatric OT/PT
  • Experience managing and developing a team — not just supervising one

GM DNA

  • Leader — You set the vision, own the culture, and lead by example every single shift. Your team looks to you to define what great looks like — and you show them daily.
  • Community Builder — You know the kids by name, the parents by face, and your coaches by what they're working toward. You build a center that families can't stop talking about because the relationships you invest in are real.
  • Strong Communicator — You give clear direction, deliver honest feedback, and connect equally well with a nervous new family, a developing coach, and your Regional Manager. Nothing important falls through the cracks on your watch.
  • Results Driven — You understand your KPIs, own your targets, and make decisions like someone with skin in the game. You set the goal, track the progress, and move the number.
  • Emotionally Balanced — You lead with steadiness. Under pressure, you're composed. In conflict, you're fair. Your consistency sets the tone for the entire center.
  • Passionate — The mission isn't a tagline to you — it's why you show up. You bring energy to the work and raise the bar for everyone around you.

Benefits

  • Clear growth path — GM → Regional Manager → multi-unit leadership as we expand
  • Real development investment — ongoing training, certifications, and leadership programming
  • A team worth leading — collaborative, mission-driven, zero-ego culture
  • Competitive compensation — salary plus performance bonus
  • Full benefits — Health, Dental, Vision, PTO
  • Work that sticks — you'll feel the impact on kids, families, and your team every single day

Pay

$55,000 – $70,000 annually, plus bonus
