About the role

The Kennebunkport Resort Collection (KRC) is seeking an experienced and dynamic General Manager to oversee the operations of several properties along Maine's scenic coast. The role requires leading and supporting all departments, managing finances, and fostering a culture of service excellence.

Responsibilities

  • Leading and supporting all departments within the resort to ensure all policies and procedures and standards are being met.
  • Interacting positively with guests promoting the features and amenities of the resort.
  • Maintaining profitability of each department.
  • Preparing annual capital, cash flow and sales and marketing plans to accurately forecast budgets and achieve required operating results.
  • Analyzing financials to drive revenues, future profitability and maximum return on investment.
  • Using distribution channels and technology platforms to drive revenue and maximize market share.
  • Leading capital plans and asset management initiatives, including working with ownership to maintain or improve property’s market leadership position.
  • Evaluating cost effectiveness of all aspects of the operation.
  • Developing cost savings and profit enhancing measures across the resort.
  • Providing support to the executive committee and leadership group.
  • Managing the overall seasonal demand strategy in partnership with the hotel’s revenue team.
  • Driving improvement in guest satisfaction goals.
  • Establishing and implementing appropriate service recovery guidelines and services and programs to ensure complete guest satisfaction and exceed guest expectations.
  • Responding to guest complaints or concerns in a prompt and professional manner.
  • Ensuring the effective operation of the hotel through the direct supervision of the operations leadership team.
  • Managing the appearance, condition, and preventive maintenance of the physical hotel through the direct supervision of the Director of Engineering.
  • Developing, implementing and monitoring employee succession planning to ensure future bench strength.
  • Establishing performance and development goals for employees and providing mentoring, coaching and regular feedback.
  • Enforcing hotel standards, policies, and procedures are in place within the hotel departments.
  • Ensuring compliance with federal, state and local laws.

Requirements

  • 8-10 years management experience, hotel/lodging environment highly preferred.
  • Four-year degree in related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of lodging operations; reservations, appropriate guest service etiquette, etc.
  • Independent and branded hotel experience (limited and full service) preferred.
  • Strong prior experience in sales and marketing and food and beverage is preferred.

Qualifications

  • Successful completion of satisfactory background check.
  • Demonstrates natural leadership qualities with a positive, team-focused attitude.
  • Able to work under pressure, multi-task, and stay focused while maintaining hospitality.

Skills

  • Excellent communication skills, both verbal and written.
  • Good computer and budget analysis skills.
  • Expresses sincere enthusiasm for the role and passion for the role.
  • Able to work flexible hours based on business needs including weekdays and weekends.
  • Strong prior experience in sales and marketing and food and beverage is preferred.
  • Successfully completed a satisfactory background check.
