On-siteManagement$110/hrFull-time

How to be Second is matchmaking on behalf of a First in Command seeking a natural “Second” to work side by side with a Visionary, grow a small team, and scale the business. The company has a built foundation including a sales team, a powerful customer list, and the EOS system, and has invested in an Implementer and Coaches. This is a full-time, on-site role in Forest Lake, MN.

About You

  • Ready to be a true thinking partner, supporting the execution of the plan developed by the decision-making team (which you are part of).
  • Inspired to build a small company into something significantly larger; 10x growth inspires rather than scares you, but you understand the realities of building a small company—including making decisions, supporting recruiting, growing the team, and handling hands-on tasks.
  • Familiar with sales and have spent time working with sales teams in a small-company environment. You have high energy for coaching and holding others accountable.
  • Skilled in having conversations to solve team challenges, thinking creatively, and driving performance without micromanaging.
  • Have experience as an Integrator or General Manager of a small business and are familiar with the EOS system and principles. You may have worked with EOS coaches or Implementers who can vouch for you.
  • Dedicated to personal and professional development (a core value) and maintain or plan to join a professional peer group and work with a coach.
  • Everything you do is in service to the team, aligning, energizing, and supporting those around you to accomplish the mission and vision together.

About Us

Our mission is to provide the best services and practices for our customers, carriers, and employees so that we can all grow together. We are committed to creating a professional, positive, and transparent environment where people are supported, challenged, and given the opportunity to develop to their fullest potential.

  • Culture: Exceptional service starts internally. We build a team that takes pride in their work, shows up as true team players, holds high standards, and stays accountable.
  • Growth Mindset: We continuously improve our processes, systems, leadership, and ourselves so the business can scale without losing what makes it special.
  • Leadership Philosophy: Service-first. Leaders create clarity, remove obstacles, and support the team in doing their best work. We value stewardship, structure over chaos, and long-term strength over short-term wins. Transparency and follow-through are non-negotiable.
  • Location: Local to the Twin Cities; our culture is primarily in-office.
  • Core Values:
    • Team Player – Help first, lead by example.
    • Pride in our work – Do the right thing, always.
    • Accountability – Do what you say, for yourself and others.
    • Growth Mindset – Always growing, professionally and personally.
    • Transparency – Open and honest.

Responsibilities

As a small team, everyone wears several hats. Your title will be “Integrator” (as defined in the EOS system), and the role functions as a General Manager / Sales Manager. Accountabilities include:

  • Work hand in hand with the Visionary (CEO) to grow the business.
  • Serve as EOS Liaison and own the system.
  • Work with the Visionary to set sales and revenue targets.
  • Own the P&L (with support).
  • Oversee all departments (with support).
  • Lead talent acquisition, with a special focus on sales talent.
  • Lead, manage, and hold direct reports accountable (LMA).
  • Train and support the sales team to achieve sales targets.

As a company running on the EOS system, we are actively working with an EOS Implementer. Our V/TO and Accountability Chart will be available for review to the right candidate.

What You Will Achieve

The firm currently has 8 staff members with fractional and contract support and aims to grow to 25 FTEs and additional fractional/contract support in the next 36 months.

In the First 30 Days

  • Establish a weekly same-page rhythm with the Visionary and a separate L10 cadence for EOS fitness.
  • Become familiar with the organization’s products, margin targets, proven processes, V/TO, and software/tech systems at a high level.
  • Re-establish a weekly scorecard for company execution, including the sales team, in collaboration with the Visionary.
  • Meet the entire team, establish 1:1 relationships, and set up a schedule for regular 1:1s.
  • Establish your regular coaching schedule (currently provided by the organization).
  • Take accountability for tasks required in daily operations and the selling cadence.

In the First 90 Days

  • Set new 90-day rocks with the team during quarterly planning.
  • Gain familiarity with the entire team and identify focus areas for the next 90 days.
  • Run the weekly L10, including preparing scorecards and supporting IDSing.
  • Serve as the primary point of contact for all new questions around new logo acquisition, including the target prospect list.
  • Meet regularly with everyone on the sales team to drive performance and accountability.
  • Free the Visionary from at least one full day of work on their calendar to focus on growth opportunities.

In the First 6 Months

  • Be “running the system,” with the team recognizing and supporting this role.
  • Take full accountability for the sales team and split remaining accountabilities with the Visionary (CEO) and/or fractional supports.
  • Support the Visionary in adding at least two rockstar salespeople to the team.
  • Ensure everyone on the team is hitting their weekly scorecard numbers.
  • Set up level-up or transition plans for each team member.
  • Enable the Visionary to have two business days per week focused on growth opportunities.

Compensation

  • Starting total compensation package of $110–140k based on experience.
  • Includes both short- and long-term incentives tied to sales team performance and overall revenue targets.
  • Benefits include health insurance and a 3% IRA match.
  • Compensation increases year-over-year are expected with the company’s success.
