Position Summary
The General Manager is responsible for leading the daily operations, team performance, guest experience, and financial execution of an upscale speakeasy concept in Nashville Yards. This role creates a warm, elevated hospitality experience while maintaining strong standards for service, compliance, safety, labor, and profitability.
Key Responsibilities
- Create a polished, guest-first service culture that reflects the speakeasy concept and brand standards.
- Hire, train, schedule, coach, and develop hourly team members.
- Lead pre-shift meetings and provide real-time coaching during service.
- Manage guest flow, service pacing, reservations, seating, and overall room experience.
- Partner with the Bar Lead to ensure cocktail quality, bar readiness, prep, cleanliness, and service consistency.
- Maintain compliance with company policies, wage and hour expectations, responsible alcohol service, and Tennessee alcohol-service requirements.
- Ensure accurate timekeeping, scheduling, tip-pool administration, cash handling, POS closeout, and daily reporting.
- Communicate regularly with the Senior Director of Operations regarding business performance, staffing, service issues, and operational needs.
Required Qualifications
- 3-5 years of hospitality management experience in a bar, restaurant, lounge, hotel, entertainment, private club, or upscale guest-service environment.
- Experience leading hourly teams, including hiring, training, coaching, scheduling, and performance management.
- Strong understanding of bar operations, guest service, labor management, cash handling, and service recovery.
- Ability to work late nights, weekends, holidays, and a flexible schedule.
- Strong communication, organization, judgment, and leadership skills.
- Must meet all legal requirements for employment and alcohol-service oversight in Tennessee.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior opening experience in a bar, restaurant, lounge, or entertainment venue.
- Experience in an upscale cocktail bar, speakeasy, hotel bar, or nightlife environment.
- Experience with POS systems, scheduling, payroll/timekeeping, inventory controls, and tip-pool administration.
- Knowledge of Tennessee alcohol-service expectations and responsible beverage service practices.
- Strong Nashville hospitality network.
Physical Requirements
- Ability to stand and walk for extended periods.
- Work in a fast-paced environment.
- Lift up to 25-50 pounds as needed.
- Work around alcohol, food, cleaning products, sound, lighting, and guest traffic.
