About the role
Football serves as a senior member of the football program's leadership team and the senior administrative leader for the football program. Provide strategic leadership and oversight of football operations, recruiting, roster management, student-athlete personnel initiatives, and organizational effectiveness. Partners with Athletics leadership to support the development and execution of program objectives while ensuring alignment with Athletics Department priorities, University goals, NCAA regulations, and conference requirements.
Responsibilities
- Provides executive leadership for the administration, strategic planning, and operational effectiveness of the football program.
- PARTNERS WITH THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH TO DEVELOP AND IMPLEMENT THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM'S VISION, CULTURE, STRATEGIC PRIORITIES, AND LONG-TERM OBJECTIVES.
- SERVES AS A SENIOR ADVISOR TO THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH AND PRIMARY ADMINISTRATIVE LIASON FOR THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM, PROVIDING LEADERSHIP FOR FOOTBALL PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT, RECRUITING OPERATIONS, ROSTER STRATEGY, NIL INITIATIVES, STUDENT-ATHLETE DEVELOPMENT, OPERATIONAL PLANNING, AND COLLABORATION WITH ATHLETICS ADMINISTRATION, UNIVERSITY DEPARTMENTS, AND EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS.
- ANALYZES ORGANIZATIONAL EFFECTIVENESS AND DEVELOPS RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING STAFFING STRUCTURES, TECHNOLOGY SYSTEMS, RECRUITING OPERATIONS, STUDENT-ATHLETE SUPPORT SERVICES, FUNDRAISING INITIATIVES, CAMPUS ENGAGEMENT, PUBLIC RELATIONS, AND OPERATIONAL EFFICIENCIES.
- WORKS TO PROMOTE AND MAINTAIN A POSITIVE IMAGE AND REPUTATION OF THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM WITHIN THE UNIVERSITY, LOCAL COMMUNITY, AND NATIONAL COLLEGIATE ATHLETICS LANDSCAPE.
- REPRESENTS THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM IN MEETINGS, INITIATIVES, AND OPERATIONAL MATTERS AS ASSIGNED BY THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH.
- PURSUDES STRATEGIC LEADERSHIP, SUPERVISION, AND OPERATIONAL OVERSIGHT FOR FOOTBALL ADMINISTRATIVE, OPERATIONAL, RECRUITING, PERSONNEL, AND SUPPORT FUNCTIONS, ENSURING ALIGNMENT WITH PROGRAM OBJECTIVES AND DEPARTMENTAL PRIORITIES.
- ESTABLISHES ORGANIZATIONAL PRIORITIES, STAFFING PLANS, PERFORMANCE EXPECTATIONS, AND OPERATIONAL PROCEDURES TO SUPPORT PROGRAM OBJECTIVES.
- COLLABORATES WITH ATHLETICS HUMAN RESOURCES ON RECRUITMENT, ONBOARDING, STAFF DEVELOPMENT, SUCCESSESION PLANNING, PERFORMANCE MANAGEMENT, AND PERSONNEL MATTERS.
- PROMOTES A CULTURE OF ACCOUNTABILITY, PROFESSIONALISM, COLLABORATION, AND CONTINUOUS IMPROVEMENT AMONG FOOTBALL AND SUPPORT STAFF.
- OVERSEES FOOTBALL OPERATIONS, INCLUDING TEAM TRAVEL, TRANSPORTATION, HOTEL CONTRACTS, GAME-DAY OPERATIONS, CAMPS, FACILITY SCHEDULING, SPECIAL EVENTS, FUNDS RAISING ACTIVITIES, AND COMMUNITY ENGAGEMENT INITIATIVES.
- IDENTIFIES, EVALUATES, AND ASSISTS IN SECURING PROSPECTIVE BUSINESS PARTNERS, VENDORS, AND SERVICE PROVIDERS SUPPORTING FOOTBALL OPERATIONS, INCLUDING TEAM TRAVEL, TRANSPORTATION, EQUIPMENT, AND FOOD SERVICE.
- OVERSEES FOOTBALL OPERATIONAL BUDGETS AND ASSISTS IN THE DEVELOPMENT OF FINANCIAL STRATEGIES RELATED TO RECRUITING, PERSONNEL MANAGEMENT, STUDENT-ATHLETE SUPPORT, AND PROGRAM OPERATIONS.
- SERVES AS THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM LIAISON TO THE STUDENT-ATHLETE SUCCESS CENTER AND OTHER STUDENT SUPPORT UNITS.
- SUPPORTS THE DEVELOPMENT AND IMPLEMENTATION OF PROGRAMS DESIGNED TO MAXIMIZE STUDENT-ATHLETE SUCCESS ACADEMICALLY, ATHLETICALLY, AND PERSONALLY.
- SERVES AS THE PRIMARY LIASON WITH NIL COLLECTIVES, AGENTS, PROFESSIONAL ADVISORS, AND OTHER EXTERNAL STAKEHOLDERS.
- EVALUATES STUDENT-ATHLETE MARKET VALUE, MONITORS INDUSTRY TRENDS AND EMERGING COMPENSATION MODELS, AND PROVIDES RECOMMENDATIONS REGARDING NIL OPPORTUNITIES, REVENUE-SHARING INITIATIVES, ROSTER RETENTION, AND COMPETITIVE POSITIONING.
- SUPPORTS FUNDRAISING, DONOR ENGAGEMENT, AND EXTERNAL RELATIONS INITIATIVES THAT ADVANCE THE GOALS AND VISIBILITY OF THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM.
- SERVES AS THE PRIMARY LIASON BETWEEN THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM AND THE ATHLETICS COMPLIANCE OFFICE.
- COORDINATES COMPLIANCE EDUCATION EFFORTS AND ENSURES FOOTBALL STAFF COMPLETE ALL REQUIRED TRAINING AND CERTIFICATION REQUIREMENTS.
- OVERSEES THE MAINTENANCE OF RECRUITING, ELIGIBILITY, FINANCIAL AID, AND ROSTER MANAGEMENT RECORDS AND DOCUMENTATION.
- REPORTS KNOWN OR SUSPECTED NCAA VIOLATIONS AND WORKS COLLABORATIVELY WITH ATHLETICS COMPLIANCE TO PROMOTE RULES EDUCATION AND MONITORING THROUGHOUT THE FOOTBALL PROGRAM.
- Maintains confidentiality regarding student-athlete, personnel, medical, academic, financial, and institutional information.
- PERFORMS OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED BY THE HEAD FOOTBALL COACH, SENIOR ASSOCIATE ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, DEPUTY ATHLETIC DIRECTOR, OR DIRECTOR OF ATHLETICS.
- ADHERES TO ALL STATE OF FLORIDA, UNIVERSITY, NCAA, CONFERENCE USA, AND DEPARTMENT RULES AND POLICIES PERTAINING TO THE POSITION OF GENERAL MANAGER. REPORTS ANY KNOWN NCAA VIOLATIONS OR CONCERNS TO THE DIRECTOR OF ATHLETIC COMPLIANCE AND BE RESPONSIBLE FOR THE MONITORING OF ANY SUBORDINATE AS IT RELATES TO NCAA REGULATIONS.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in a related discipline and eight (8) years of compliance experience or Master's degree in a related discipline, and six (6) years of compliance experience.
Departmental Requirements
- Experience working in NCAA Division I Football Bowl Subdivision (FBS) athletics.
- Strong knowledge of NCAA, conference, and institutional rules and regulations.
- Excellent leadership, communication, organizational, analytical, and relationship-building skills.
