General Manager
About the Role
Auberge du Soleil, inspired by the south of France and infused with California soul, seeks a General Manager to lead a team in driving extraordinary performance across all areas of hotel operations. This role sets the strategic direction, ensuring alignment with luxury standards and values, while serving as the coach and champion for all team members. The General Manager acts as the Ambassador and key spokesperson for the hotel, nurturing relationships with team members, owners, and the community.
Responsibilities
- Oversee the development of the strategy and business plan to position the property as a best-loved operator of one-of-a-kind luxury hospitality and experiences.
- Initiate, facilitate, and guide well-designed and creatively curated guest experiences unique to the property through food & beverage outlets, amenities, product selection, partner alignment, and space activation.
- Develop the recruitment and employment brand strategy to become the employer of choice in the local market.
- Build a culture of trust, pride, and joy, resulting in high employee advocacy and team member engagement.
- Oversee the creation and implementation of the guest experience across all touchpoints: Pre-Arrival, Arrival, During The Stay, Departure, and Post-Departure to ensure personalized and customized service.
- Ensure all financial targets are met and provide accurate monthly forecasting.
- Spearhead the commercial strategy to drive and increase revenue, serving as the sales champion and engaging with influential travel advisors, clients, and media.
- Partner with the Executive leadership team to maintain the highest standards of excellence in each department.
- Champion new initiatives and take calculated risks to improve property performance.
- Actively engage with the local community, businesses, and high society to embed the property and region as a cultural and social landmark.
- Play a pivotal role in introducing a new membership club, including engagement strategy and ongoing programming.
- Elevate on-property activations in wellness, arts, and culture to appeal to broader interest groups and demographics.
- Ensure the property evolves to cater to next-gen consumers while preserving the integrity of its offering.
Qualifications
- 10+ years of progressive experience in luxury hotel operations management, including serving as a General Manager.
- Experience cultivating relationships with ultra-high-net-worth individuals and discerning global clientele.
- Proven ability to lead luxury membership ecosystems and private club cultures.
- Sophisticated understanding of member engagement and social programming.
- Savvy approach to business operations with innovative thinking to address unique challenges.
- Previous experience managing independently branded luxury hotels.
- Robust experience in operations, particularly in F&B and club membership management.
- Agile and solution-oriented with strong communication skills and the ability to navigate dynamic environments.
- Strong involvement with the local community.
- International exposure that enriches brand positioning.
- Ability to create and sustain a culturally relevant luxury environment that resonates with global tastemakers, members, and guests.
