Role and Team
Reporting to the Regional Director, the General Manager drives the Auction's success through effective leadership. This role sets the tone for customer and employee experience, executes strategies for financial performance, and supports company initiatives.
Responsibilities
- Identify opportunities for business growth
- Regularly meet with customers, attend sales visits, and engage in other customer interactions
- Ensure prompt, efficient, and courteous customer attention
- Act as a change champion, navigate, communicate, and adapt to change initiatives
- Maintain communication with Corporate Office, RD, key contacts, and external contacts
- Attend Profit and Loss Statement reviews, reconcile accounting, and report discrepancies
- Monitor accounts receivable and report variances
- Control payroll and expenses to support operations and financial objectives
- Maintain KPIs and improve processes
- Handle customer disputes and complaints professionally
- Identify, hire, train, and mentor management
- Support recruiting, hiring, and onboarding initiatives
- Manage employee relations and conduct performance appraisals
- Conduct monthly employee meetings and ensure compliance with company policies
- Monitor and control auction inventory, property, and equipment
- Ensure safety and maintain proper maintenance
- Manage sales promotions, advertising, and telemarketing
- Ensure compliance with driving safety standards and substance abuse prevention
- Follow company policies and procedures, and adhere to confidentiality and integrity
Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree with auction and automotive experience or High School diploma/GED with at least 5 years auction experience
- Minimum 5 years of leadership/supervisory experience
- Excellent verbal and written communication skills
- Proven ability to multitask and maintain attention to detail
- Confidentiality and integrity handling sensitive information
- Ability to manage deliverables and metrics against aggressive targets and timelines
- Proficiency with computer systems and applications
- Must be 18 years of age and have a valid driver's license meeting ADESA requirements
